South Florida looks wet

#1 Postby tailgater » Tue Jul 11, 2006 7:16 am

With the ULL to the west, the Bermuda High in place and all that moisture just north of the Greater Antilles. South Florida looks to get plenty of rain the next couple of days.

You're not kidding! I just took the dog out and it feels like standing under a waterfall... Almost hurts. Freaked the dog out!

Beautiful lighting and impressive thunder, though.

It's a tropical wave moving through

Just had a wind gust here in Palm Beach County near the coast of 27mph with a squall coming in from the Atlantic

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
142 PM EDT TUE JUL 11 2006

.DISCUSSION...
THE EAST COAST SEA BREEZE WAS PUSHING INLAND EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...AS
THE WEST COAST SEA BREEZE WAS DEVELOPING ALONG THE WEST COAST. SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS WHERE OCCURRING OVER THE INTERIOR AND WEST COAST
AREAS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON ALONG BOTH SEA BREEZES. THESE SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE INTERIOR AND WEST
COAST AREAS THROUGH REST OF THE AFTERNOON...AS THE SEA BREEZES
COLLIDE OVER THE WESTERN AREAS OF THE CWA. SO WILL CONTINUE THE
NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE INTERIOR AND WEST
COAST AREAS OF THE CWA.

FOR THE EAST COAST AREAS...HAVE LOWER THE POPS TO CHANCE CAT FOR
REST OF THIS AFTERNOON...AS SOME OF SUBSTANCE AHEAD OF THE
TROPICAL WAVE OVER CENTRAL BAHAMA ISLANDS HAS WORKED INTO THE AREA
EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.

THE TROPICAL WAVE OVER THE CENTRAL BAHAMA ISLANDS WILL MOVE WEST
TONIGHT INTO SOUTH FLORIDA AND INTO THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO ON
WEDNESDAY. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR SUBSTANCE OVER THE EASTERN AREAS OF
THE CWA TO CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS THE CWA TONIGHT FOLLOWED BY THE
DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE TROPICAL WAVE FOR
WEDNESDAY. SO WILL LEAVE IN A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
ALONG THE EAST COAST AREAS TONIGHT...BEFORE GOING TO NUMEROUS
ACTIVITY FOR WEDNESDAY. FOR REST OF THE CWA...PLAN ON LEAVING
CHANCE THIS EVENING FOR THE LEFT OVER ACTIVITY FROM THIS
AFTERNOON...BEFORE GOING TO ISOLATED OVER NIGHT AND THEN NUMEROUS
ON WEDNESDAY.

ONCE THIS TROPICAL WAVE MOVES THROUGH THE AREA ON WEDNESDAY...HIGH
PRESSURE OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC WATERS WILL TAKE CONTROL OF
SOUTH FLORIDA`S WEATHER LATE THIS WEEK. THIS HIGH WILL ALLOW FOR
SOME DRIER AIR TO WORK INTO SOUTH FLORIDA FROM THE CENTRAL
ATLANTIC WATERS HELPING TO REDUCE THE POPS TO BELOW CLIMO FOR THIS
TIME OF YEAR. THE HIGHEST POPS WILL BE ALONG THE WEST COAST
AREAS...AS THE WIND FLOW WILL BE FROM THE EAST.
