Its Saturday Morning.....Claudette

#1 Postby Guest » Sat Jul 12, 2003 6:08 am

is NOT impressive to me. She didn't pull any magical tricks out of her hat. To my untrained eyes - she's looks like a blob on IR 4 sats and water vapor. Still too early visible sats. Maybe the NHC does know what they are doing. I don't think she will ever make Hurricane status.

Next advisory at 10:00 a.m. - she is now moving at 14 mph - so I don't expect much to happen. My thoughts - Brownsville.

At this point I'm not so sure either that she will ever be named as a cane. If the shear let's up maybe, but Claudette has struggled a lot just to stay together. My general thoughts all along was more for a Northern landfall, but this AM I am going to have to agree with Texas. With all her multiple centers she has made her tracking very intersting. Let's see what she has to throw out there at us today. :shocked!:

Here i sit at this computer on a Saturday morning - I normally SLEEP in on Saturdays - looking at this storm.

I think I finally have recognized what is going to push Claudy south. If you look a the water vapor link - here it is if you want to look yourself:

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT ... -loop.html

Notice the white/gray area streaming on the coastline of texas - its is going south - I think once Claudy is close to that she will get drawn by that trough and pushed down to Brownsville or even further south to mexico.

Or do I need to just go back to bed and forget I made this post _ LOL!!!!!!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

If I lived in Texas, I would be doing what you are this morning also, I mean look I'm doing it anyway. Claudette has a way of doing that to us.

What part of Texas are you in? Give me a Big city area that I can relate to.

Well, you are learning, except that is not a trough. That is the ridge of high pressure working into our area from the west. She has missed the trough which would have drawn her N or NE. You are right though that that is what has already started her more westerly track as she is getting close enough to be influenced by that ridge which is giving us the clear blue skys we are seeing this am in Houston. Now you can go back to bed if you want. :D
