Can we keep unscientific weather kooks who babble about electricity, the gaia hypothesis, dams in Africa, and just string together incoherent thoughts out of this website? I have been a firm believer that 70% of the people that go around formulating their own unverifiable nonsense are knowledgeable enough and do it for a joke. The other 30% are simply insane.
The average person will believe these people actually have worthwhile opinions. The truth is they do not in any way present a viable of coherent picture of the world. They rant and rave about conspiratorial science keeping their papers from being published when anyone familiar in the slightest with science knows this is bogus. In essence they impede learning, distract from worthwhile information, and are potentially dangerous when they make forecasts. This is because while the average 'location biased forecaster' is easy for the layperson with half a brain to figure out, those who forecast with a backdrop of scientific-sounding babble are taken much more seriously.
This is just my thoughts and I thank you for considering,
Kevin
