I'm so happy we're going to miss the worst of it, but it's pretty yuck here right now. I am directly on the Brazoria County/Galveston County Line, 20-something miles up I-45 from Galveston.
It started raining last night, and hasn't quit yet. No thunderstorms, just very very squally rain, with whistling loud wind gusts at times. I wish I had a home weather station to know how fast they are gusting, because it's blowing pretty hard here and there. The rain hasn't let up at all, and I'm hoping it hasn't already started to flood. I'll find out soon enough as I try and head to Houston for work!
My prayers and thoughts to everyone a little further down the coast... stay safe!!

Currently breezy and rainy in W Houston. Winds look to be about 15-20 mph sustained with higher gusts. Radar shows a strong feeder band working it's way wnw towards us. We'll see what happens. I will probably shoot my webcam out the window later if it gets nastier. I will be on yim when I am doing it, if I do.

Reporting in...
I left home (Southwest Houston) at 6:00 this morning. It was dark, windy and pouring when I left. It looked like it intended to stay that way for a while.
I got on the tollroad and headed north. By the time I reached 290, the rain had long since let up and, while it was still cloudy and sprinkling, the roads were dry.
I'm up here in The Woodlands now, and it's mostly cloudy, though I can see the sun shining from the window right now, and breezy. It's really warm and humid though. It doesn't look like we're going to get much rain out of this, and there are no warnings or watches for west of 59 or north of Harris County.

I'm here in Northern Harris County 10 minutes South of Bush Intercontinental. Rain is off and on and very breezy conditions with gusts up to 25 mph. Nothing major, just getting a little side swipe from Claudette. Houston got pretty darn lucky. This is just the beginning of things and Claudette is just a minimal cat. 1 storm. I believe there will be a couple more storms in the gulf this hurricane season and at least one of them is really gonna blow.

Got that on a Galveston yahoo board. Obviously, they didn't try to take any serious pics during the rough stuff. Good thing...
I'll try to drive out later after work and get pics (when things are safe).
