Message when I try to edit a post

You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while.

Now, while I certainly agree this is a good feature to use, I think it should be for just making new posts, not editing them as well.

I agree completely. I actually came here to suggest this exact thing.

I've been getting this a lot recently as well - seems like the limit is now to something like 10 or 15 seconds, which is inconvenient when you catch a little spelling error or a bad link you just posted.

It's set to 30 seconds before you can make a new post. I don't think the software will allow us to distinguish between a new post and editing one. I have caught an error and tried to edit a post too, and got the same message. I just hit the back button, waited a few seconds, and then submitted it again. It's ONLY 30 seconds. I think we can handle waiting that long. If you simply can't wait, just open a new window/tab and go about your business, then come back in a few minutes to submit it again. :)

It's hard to wait that long because you may have accidentally typed something that comes across wrong...then someone reads it, responds and misunderstands what you say...or they may read it before you're able to add some info that you forgot to mention. Only 30 seconds is a long time.

Here's a suggestion... proof read your post BEFORE you hit submit.

Unfortunately, we have to set a limit because of recent events during storms.
