And to think I thought I was going to get some rest this weekend and catchup on my sleep. I don't think that's going to happen until the end of November - LOL! Can we say BUSY!

Chad and ticka already we have seen plenty of action this season especially in the GOM but the prime time of the seasin is still comming and that is a scary thought especially the way this season is behaving.

You know, I am excited but a little apprehensive this season. While I love to track and watch these approaching storms, I have this gut feeling that one (maybe more) is going to be a real humdinger (yes, that is the technical term)! As we have mentioned in other threads, there are numerous coastlines that just wouldn't be able to handle a storm of that magnitude. I see a record breaking year for the GOM and New Orleans is so far below sea level and with the years of corrosion from previous storms, I just pray that those folks are spared this year.

I also wanted to mention the emergency contact system that the Admin Staff put together a few months ago needs to be mentioned again and those that would like to give S2K some contact #'s in case your area is hit need to do so. We have become a very close knit community here and I would hate to see someone caught in one of these monsters and we have no way to know that everyone is ok. So, Chad, if you could post another Announcement about how to post the members info, I think we would all benefit, at least maybe it would help alleviate some of the worrisome days about our friends. :D

You are all my friends and I pray that we are ALL spared disaster this season!

WOW! What a view of the tropics. I have to agree with all that has been said. I love to track them, but I do have to say I feel a bit uneasy this year. Unless the pattern changes we could see alot of landfalling systems. I know you have heard it many times but the Tampa Bay area is so long over due for a hurricane, and the population has increased tremendously here over the years. Most people will say, yes it can happen here, but it never does. The only thing I can say to them is that I hope they are right.

So all I have to say is Don't forget the  and let the show begin ! :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:

So does this mean you are not going to worry about the Winter Season, which I must admit is somewhat quieter than the Tropical season, at least here in the Southland? I have given up on getting a decent nights sleep ever!!! This WEATHER ADDICTION is overwelming!!!

It seems as if many of us have the same trepidations

#20 Postby HurricaneQueen » Fri Jul 18, 2003 7:10 pm

Although I always become somewhat apprehensive during hurricane season, the year is worse. Perhaps it is because we have all been glued to our computers for weeks already and it's only the middle of July. Or maybe it's a second sense. Something just doesn't feel right with the way the season has started. Whatever...I hope we all remain out of harm's way. At least we are all prewarned here and hopefully as prepared as we can be. Good luck thoughout the season, everyone ! Lynn
