This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Was Isaac the last named system of the 2006 season?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Wed Oct 11, 2006 6:58 pm

Maybe 2006 can squeeze a named system but I think by the pattern of el nino dominating the 2006 is closed and Isaac was the last named system.

I think we will have one more...two at the most. Both TS's.

I say No. May be nothing will form in western atlantic, including GoM and caribbean, but what about the eastern atlantic? Some models develop an extratropical system this weekend that may become subtropical.

We are bound to have at least one STS before the end of the season. I would think two would be possible, albeit one very weak and maybe quickly changing over to extratropical.

There will be at least one more named storm.

El Nino rarely shuts down the season completely.

I wouldn't rule out a possible hurricane.

No, because Bebinca, Rumbia, Soulik, Norman and Olivia have all formed since Isaac! :ggreen:

Heh, yeah I think we'll probably get a subtropical Joyce.

We'll get to double digits. Just barely, though.

A reminder that the question is a very simple one,was Isaac the last named system of the 2006 season. The invests that are now up may form into depressions but not into named storms and not count in this poll. :)

With the fronts coming through the way they are - I say we're done.

After the demize of 90L and 91L will go the same way,now I strongly agree with that quote.

Those who noy haved voted yet can do so when you like because the poll will not close.

Well, we're getting fronts fast and furious now. I still think maybe 1 or 2 more named storms will form way down in the Caribbean but they won't be major events and won't affect the US.

I am thinking no, no more named storms. Strong fronts are moving down on a regular basis now and the nor'eater season is upon us.

Yep its over - the pattern across the CONUS and much of the MDR resembles more of November - December setup. Get ready for a cold winter by the way, it certainly looks that way. For all of those looking for lots of canes, what a complete let down 2006 was, at least the US had a break for a change.
