"Sittin' round the front porch!"
As the cool, crisp air of autumn comes rushing down the mountains, leaves turning color, the sweet smell of aligator juniper burning in someones woodstove as it drifts across the meadow, it's time once again to pull up a chair, prop up your feet and enjoy the glow of a fire, the warmth of fellowship "Sittin' round the Pot Belly Stove".
The pot bellied stove is a warm place, a place like your grandparents used to sit and share the weather in your hometown. It's a place to share your problems, your sorrows, your happiness and what ever else you feel like.
So come on in, grab a cuppa joe, a cuppa cheer, a cuppa tea from the kettle sittin' on top the stove, pull up a seat and enjoy the warmth of true weather buddy fellowship!

Brrrr!! Howdy Pot bellied buddies! It's COOL outside today. Reached a high of 58° at 1300 hours, it's now 1530 hrs. and it's dropped to 37° with a rain/sleet mix, a northwest wind of 13 gusting to 18 mph. making a ONE kewl October afternoon.
Can't stay but a second, thought I'd stop by to warm up for a second!

Well looks like I'm the first to arrive. I'll brew some Earl Grey for Miss Mary and set some fresh banana nut bread on the stove to keep it nice and warm so that butter melts all over it. Dennis, I can smell that alligator juniper all the way over here in the Burgh. I just came in from my chilly yard and cutting down my frost burned dahlias and elephant ears. I had to have the radio on really loud to listen to the Steelers.

I'm always amazed Dennis, that your weather in the White mountains is comparable to ours here! Yep, it went down into the 30's the last coupla nights, got the oil tank filled and I changed the filter. Next will be the storm windows, and yes, plastic sheeting on some of the windows. Its the season that my wife and I are at odds over "fresh air" vs. "heating the house." She loves an open window because it helps her with her allergies, etc., in the Winter. My policy is that as soon as a window gets opened, the heat gets turned off! I'll be cold before I'll try to heat the outdoors.

This space for rent.
That pot of Earl Grey is bottomless Bobbie Lee! Of course we have plenty - Karan keeps it going all Winter long! Not an easy job but she manages to keep us all nourished around here....
Fall - I love it! People think I'm really wacky when I say I love colder wx. I'll tell you a secret - I love saying it when people are grumbling about chillier wx too. I honestly seem to come alive when it's colder. I enjoy breaking out my cords and sweaters again.
Winter - love it even more. Should have been a skiier, I know. Ah, too late for this baby boomer. I would NOT want to risk breaking a leg or something. he he That would be me - in traction. Naw, I'd rather just enjoy walking my dog. She loves this cooler wx too!
I'm hoping to have time this week to begin some serious Fall cleaning. Between my dental trips this past week and Laura's alone (dental checkup and an ortho fitting), we were in dental chairs for over 7 hours! Add other appts and running here and there. Miss Mary was rarely home and this house is reflecting that. I'm hosting a T-giving meal for about 25 this year - yikes! So I've set some goals to Fall clean. Wish me luck!

Mary, that Fall cleaning CAN be done if you just tackle a little at a time. I've started a "whole-house shovel-out" and am actually enjoying it! I'm finding stuff I don't remember ever having.
May I suggest pumpkin bread for your T-day gathering? Yummy as banana bread, warm with butter!
Eary Grey has done it for me again -- thank you! It's so soothing at bedtime. Goodnight, all!

Howdy guys. Feels good to come back into the PBS and chat, although the weather here this morning is 70*.
Good luck on the clean up Mary, time for me to go through all the kids clothes and toys to prepare for new winter wardrobes for them and new Christmas things.
Welcome to the PBS Bobbie Lee glad you pulled up a chair. Its always nice to come in here get a cup of tea, and a bite to eat..........but beware of the little piggy, Crouton I think his name is, who loves to steal your food ecspecially hot KKs.
Going to get a haircut today or tomorrow, we are taking family pics this weekend with my brother and his wife and new baby and giving it to my mother for Christmas in a nice frame. I think she will love that, all her kids and grandkids in one picture for her to look at.
Have a great day everyone!

Miss Mary, I'm almost done the fall cleaning, now the hubby is doing it as I'm only home for about 4 hours a day now if I'm lucky, he's a great cleaner too!!! He's very meticulous too so sometimes when I get home from the one job I see something pulled apart because he's in the middle of cleaning it
It was 40 degrees this AM when I left at 5, its supposed to go up to 60 later today, and it's a beautiful sunny day too:) Would be a great day to take a walk on the boardwalk in Ocean City MD, sigh. Ah well, one can dream

angelwing - I'm jealous!!!! I have a great husband, loyal, devoted, great dad/hubby. Only flaw in that picture - he's a slob! Well, not a terrible one but he doesn't like to fix things or clean. Unless we have a party coming up and everyone has a list of chores. That happens only once or twice a year. I joke to some friends, yep he's my Raymond (of Everybody Loves Raymond). Not that bad but close. Only difference was his mother was a true saint - so nice (opposite of Marie Barone, from the show). I keep thinking maybe when he retires he'll fix things. I have enough to keep up, I can't be fixing leaky faucets, drawer fronts that need glueing, etc. Or drawer tracks that need new whatevers....we have at least 5 kitchen cabinet drawers that are empty - why? They're falling apart! So enjoy a helpful husband - I don't know what that feels like! LOL

Lol Mary, he didn't become this helpful till the second full time job took me out of the house, I was working on-line prior to this for the 2nd & 3rd job and he would bug me constantly, but he was still recovering from illness so I couldn't go out that much, but he's better now. Now that I'm never home he offered to do the cleaningand he does the wash (while constantly Iming me on the phone to ask me if I want this in the dryer or how to wash this, lol), but I still have to cook, so on Sundays I do my meals-on-wheels for the week so at least I don't have to worry about that, though when I come home at night I may see something pulled apart that needs to be cleaned, but then I might see a pile of his clothes in a corner that he wore for that day that he didn't put in the hamper yet, lol.
