As a Wal-Mart manager, critically injured begins a long road to recovery, his family and friends rally around him. Twenty-six-year-old Jason LeBlanc has had one of his legs amputated and doctors had to put a rod in the other leg.
Friday night, LeBlanc walked outside the store to check out a disturbance. Police say two suspects in a car were trying to get away after a purse-snatching inside the store. Those suspects, Matthiaus Guidry and Summer Cormier, were captured by police within minutes. Both face theft charges and Cormier, the alleged driver of the get-away vehicle, is also charged with attempted murder. She is out of jail after posting a $50,000 bond Monday.
LeBlanc's father says his son is scheduled to have shoulder surgery Tuesday and has a fractured pelvis that doctors will allow to heal on its own. LeBlanc was run over at the Ambassador Caffery Parkway Wal-Mart. He used to work at the Evangeline Thruway location where coworkers, friends, vendors and customers are all concerned about LeBlanc's health and future. His longtime friend and former coworker, Vincent Broussard visited LeBlanc in the Intensive Care Unit at Our Lady Of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and says, "I was happy when I saw him up talking. He was coherent, so that made me feel a little bit better."
Coworkers, former and current, are like family to LeBlanc. Jason LaBauve says LeBlanc is one of those people who finds the good in the bad. "Something you don't want to happen to one of your friends, but Jason is strong. Jason is going to bounce back," LaBauve says

Wal-Mart Employee Remains Hospitalized After Being Run Over by Car
The ‘Hub-City' Wal-Mart employee who lost a leg after being dragged by a moving car is still in the hospital, listed in serious condition.
We first reported this story on Friday.
Police say that's when 26-year-old Jason LeBlanc was run-over and dragged by two people suspected of stealing from a Wal-Mart shopper.
18-year-old Summer Cormier and 20-year-old Matthiaus Guidry were arrested at the scene.
Investigators say Guidry stole a shopper's purse at the Ambassador Caffery Wal-Mart, and jumped into a get-away car driven by Cormier.
Investigators say when Cormier began speeding off, she hit LeBlanc, a Wal-Mart security guard who was trying to stop the two suspects.
Cormier is charged with attempted second-degree murder.
But, her alleged accomplice is not and the victim's family is not happy.
Jason LeBlanc is still in intensive care at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.
His family declined to comment on-camera, but they did tell us he's scheduled for shoulder surgery Tuesday morning.
LeBlanc's family also told us they're grateful for the more than 100 Wal-Mart employees who have stopped by the ICU.
LeBlanc has a long recovery after what police say Matthiaus Guidry and Summer Cormier did Friday night.
And now, LeBlanc's family wants to know why Guidry isn't facing the same attempted second-degree murder charge as Summer Cormier.
The Lafayette Police Department says that while the initial police report is complete, the district attorney could still bring more charges against Guidry.
Cpl. Mark Francis says the passenger could be charged with a more serious offense because he was in the commission of a felony when a felony occurred.
But, Francis says it could take weeks before the district attorney gets the case.
And, LeBlanc could still be in the hospital when that decision is made.
He already had his left leg amputated and he faces three to four months of bed rest.
In the meantime, Corporal Francis says security efforts will be strengthened during the holiday season.
Francis says many area merchants employ additional security personnel every holiday season.
