"Adios Winter, Hola Spring!"

#1 Postby azsnowman » Tue Mar 20, 2007 5:21 pm

I don't post here quite as much as I used to due some pressing matters with life in general and a "few" other things BUT......At last, we can finally kiss one of the coldest winters in 10 years Adios`and I can't say I'm sorry to see it go!

All in all, not a bad winter, offical snowfall total for Pinetop was 63.5". I had just a scoosh over 97" here at the house, that's the "Mogollon Rim orographic lift from hell" for ya! Not quite the winter everyone expected but it was better than the "Nothing Season" of last year (a total of 42" fell in ONE storm and that was IT!). I had 3 weeks straight of below zero temps. at night, the coldest being -16°F.

Wildfire season is already here thanks to the winds....conditions here in the White Mountains aren't THAT bad yet, we still have residual moisture in the fine fuels and with these next 2 systems due in tonight through Saturday, that should keep the fires at bay for at least another month or 2.

With that said, "Welcome Spring!"

I'm glad that it has been a relatively successful winter moisture-wise. I do hope that it continues.

No, that was the east seabreeze, we usually do not get that. Our summer rain doesnt start until the westerlies start up.

Well I'm the odd member out here. I'm always a little sad to see Winter end! Considering we had several decent weeks of Winter this year, I shouldn't complain. LOL Yes it will be nice to return to warmer wx (for some peeps!). However, I wanted just one more snowstorm! Sigh......all around me are signs Spring is here. My next door neighbor is just dying to begin the grass cutting season (he cuts his lawn every 4 to 5 days). I just have to look away from that lawn/flower beds, it's darn near perfect....LOL!!!

Yes, I love spring time. It is nice for great stormchasing and wonderful picnics in the park. We have already mowed once.

Bring on Spring!!!

Linda, I always get really "antsy" this time of year and plant things too early. I have all my old sheets stored in my sheet for those Spring freezes. I pull out the sheets and put those babies to bed.
