Cool. Unlike last year when I tried it, getting the broadcast was effortless.

Mike has brought bad news as we wont see the quickScats anymore as the sattelite is comming to an end, unless there is funding to launch a new one.And the earliest it can launch will be by 2010.

I did not tune it tonight. It the satelite failing or are they discontinuing the QuickScats for other reasons.

Apart from on MetOP A which had this tested recently. Not that this data will likely be availible publically unless you have your own satellite reciever.

I'm listening to the archive version of the snow and it's pretty good. However, the information about the QUICKSCAT, aging satellites, and the funding problems just plain makes no sense! It's totally unacceptable and is a slap to the face of meteorological science and meteorological advancements.

I did not tune it tonight. It the satellite failing or are they discontinuing the QuickScats for other reasons.

No, it's still going but it could die out pretty much at any time, whether it's tomorrow, next month, or next year, etc. :( Let's just cross our fingers it's going to last much, much longer then we'd expect (it already has). Same goes for the GOES satellites and any other under funded tools.
