Question regarding GFS model
For the last 2 weeks the GFS model has been picking up on lows in different areas of the Caribbean is it possible that the model might be picking up lower pressures down there instead of actual low pressure. It seems that these lows are spurious and never seem to form.

First personal disclaimer, I pay very little attention to models, especially those that forecast tropical development. Now, those that forecast development coming off the African Coast (Cape Verde Storms) tend to do much better in my opinion. It seems to be easier for the computers to get a handle on the consistent waves which come off and which ones my likely develop. But this business of forecasting development in the tropical Caribbean is risky indeed (or so I've noticed).
