I know I maybe throwing up a freak flag, but this pic of the sun today looks like it has huge dark areas over large parts of our sun. Maybe something is going wrong with our sun.
No, the H-Alpha images on theSEC site are from the MLSO (Mauna Loa Solar Observatory). The Satellite imagery is generally not H-Alpha. The GOES X-Ray imagers have croaked and SEC doesn't post the SOHO or STEREO imagery (at least not as of yet).
