Closest I've come to being struck by lightening

#1 Postby NC George » Tue Aug 28, 2007 4:35 am

We had a massive lightening storm here in Greenville, NC Sunday evening. As I was standing on someone's porch, I had a strange sensation pass through my legs. Suddenly, I heard a noise that sounded like a bottle rocket going up (pfffffffffft,) then suddenly everything went white for a sec and a massive clap of thunder struck simultaneously, enough to rattle the house upon whose porch I was located.

I had that happen back in 1989 I think. me and a neighbor were standing out on my apartment balcony when flash/bang! the pine tree just a few feet from us was struck bark went flying everywhere!
The tree had a spiral burnt in it from about the middle to the ground!
My ears were ringing for about 30 min.

I remember when I was standing outside watching a storm roll in (like an idiot) and lightning hit a tree in our yard and our tv antenna on the roof. I felt a wierd sensation then everything went white. Then the LOUDEST sound I have ever heard in my life. It seemed like it happened in slow motion too. Was awesome!!!
