DOes anybody know how many storms have hit S. Fla in Oct?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

DOes anybody know how many storms have hit S. Fla in Oct?

#1 Postby DanKellFla » Sat Sep 29, 2007 4:36 am

I was trying to find the number of storms to hit South Florida in October. I remember coming across a website where you entered your zip code and it list storms withing a certaing distance, but I can't find that now. Anybody remember that one? Or another site that will list landfalling storms in the S. Fla are by month?

The other poster didn't remove the periods from the URL. This link should work for you.

Thanks for the link!!

Since 1960 there have been 5 hurricanes close to S. Florida. Wilma, Irene and Isbell made landfall on the mainland. Floyd and Inez went right over the keys.

I will remain vigilant, but I will relax a bit now. I will only check the NHC site once a day.

there was an interesting story in the Palm Beach Post today regarding hurricanes in Oct./ Nov. Especially w/ La nina. They said not to let your guard down yet and replenish any supplies. For Florida, Oct/Nov, could be an active time.

In November for South Florida from 1900:

1916 11 15 NOTNAMED 70 0 H1
1935 11 4 NOTNAMED 65 973 H1

South east Florida is what I am specifically interested in.
