TROPICAL MOISTURE
Again, we continue to get hammered with tropical moisture today...we've had a few breaks in the last few weeks, but, basically, we have been under pure tropical moisture from the GOM for over a month now. I don't recall this area having this much tropical moisture in one season, so sustained, since I was in grade school in 1985. This has just been wild. We are saturated..... http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/radar.php ... 1&loop=yes Many areas have already received over 3 inches since 6AM and the rain continues to train. There has been some flooding, but, nothing major, up to this point.

Re: TROPICAL MOISTURE
It has been pretty incredible, we recieved over 20 inches of rain over a 48 hour period just last week. Looking at the radar, there's a nice blob SW of Pensacola getting ready to come ashore.

Re: TROPICAL MOISTURE
Wow did those thunderstorms in the gulf and Louisiana get intense in a hurry!
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/gmex/loop-avn.html
Hopefully the rain can move some to the northeast, to help Alabama, Georgia.

Re: TROPICAL MOISTURE
We got about 7 inches in my neighborhood today. There are reports of some areas receiving over 10". It slowed down around 2:30PM. But, it flooded. It flooded all over the city today. When I came home there was leaves, debris, and trash all the way up to my front step which indicates my street got to around 18" in depth during the flash flood. Alot of New Orleans flooded. Here are a couple of links for pics: http://www.wwltv.com/weather/pix2/ , reports of flooding from locals: http://www.wwltv.com , http://blog.nola.com/times-picayune/200 ... traff.html , And here's the radar, again, showing much more on the way...possibly another 5" this evening before the front moves through : http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/radar.php ... 1&loop=yes

October 22, 2007 05:37 p.m.
At about 1 p.m., I parked my van at the Walgreen's at Terry Parkway and Carol Sue because of high water, both in the streets and from the Terry Parkway canal overflowing. It is 4:35 p.m. and we were able to pick up my van just now with no trouble. There are some puddles, but the high water has receded presently. I urge everyone to be careful, however, as there are some stranded vehicles still on the roads and there is more rain coming.
October 22, 2007 05:14 p.m.
See what happened. You reelected the same bunch in Jefferson and now your streets are flooding. They can spend 28 million for their pals with the Jefferson Parish Preforming Arts Society to build the yodeling palace at LaSalle Park but YOUR DAMN STREETS STILL FLOODS. I guess AB wasn't expecting the unexpected. Hope we have enough FEMA trailers left.

Y'all show these clips of "standing water" but what about Calhoun St. or Palmer St. in the University area? The water is impassable with stalled cars pulling into homeowners driveways and makeshift roadblocks established by residents who fear the splashing water flooding THE FLOORS IN THEIR HOMES. My car is filled with water past the bottom of the passenger and driver's side seats. Water should be clearing up? GIVE ME A BREAK. Why don't you check out the 2 to 3 1/2 feet of water covering the 2900 block of Palmer and Calhoun? Wading through it, it stands thigh high on my six foot frame and has yet to receed AT ALL, but instead continues to increase, since 10:30am this morning!!!

When will someone do SOMETHING about cleaning out the drains, etc. in this pathetic city? The SW&B is a JOKE. Do they do ANYTHING for this city? My water pressure is WEAK. My streets flood EVERY time a somewhat heavy rain comes. I just watched as some poor girl had to discover her car was under water. She had just bought it the day before. The city of New Orleans and it's lack-of-leadership and ability to get things done should be ashamed of themselves. If people would spend as much time helping the city as they do complaining about justice for all or whether or not some crime-riddled project reopens... We actually might get somewhere. Doubtful...but who knows? Miracles do come true in some cases.

If you see a clogged drain (especially one that's been clogged for 10 years) near your home. Maybe, just maybe, you could take 7-8 minutes away from your TV watching schedule and CLEAN IT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not enough time is an excuse that you should be embarrassed to use. The Saint game lasts approx. 3 hours and so do LSU games. That leave about 42 hours left to your weekend. Squeeze it in. Or you can keep saying "i'm a taxpayer" and wait for something to happen. Let us know when it does. In the meantime enjoy your trip to the mechanic shop to have your flooded cars fixed again. One thing this storm did was expose how completely pathetic and helpless we've become!!!

Dear City of New Orleans, Please come to Napoleon Ave., between Loyola & Freret, and clean your catch-basin. I waded through 2-3 feet of water to get to my truck this morning. In the future, after trimming the tress on any of your streets, it's probably a good idea to follow with a crew to attend to the drains. Many of those limbs and leaves clog the area. Thank You! Signed, A Hard-working, TAX PAYING Citizen
October 22, 2007 10:32 a.m.
Barataria Blvd, southbound near Randolph. Many side streets have water over the curb from Lapalco to Lafitte Larose Highway. Cardinal Drive from Cheryl to the end of the street. As you get closer to Dede, the water is in some yards past Dede.
October 22, 2007 10:32 a.m.
OFCOURSE there is high water near me. Lower garden district. Drains have been clogged for years and I have reported it and reported it and ofcourse NOTHING is ever done. Quit fixing things in neighborhoods where people still won't be living in 10 years and concentrate on keeping the tax paying, working class nice neighborhoods happy. And while you're at it...FIXXXXXXXX the whole in the earth at St. Andrew & Magazine. That's an OUTRAGE! Been like that for months.
October 22, 2007 10:32 a.m.
We already have "Lake" Taravalla Road on the Westbank. :O(
