Their wording on Noel suggests that there is some uncertainty on its status in its later life...they call it extratropical but use tropical-like terms like "landfall" and use good terms in its status...

I can't wait to see the TC report on this one. The event was unreal and I'm still wondering what the heck happened over Oklahoma.

Punta Gorda again? What is it with that name and intense hurricane landfalls?

Also I think Felix's maximum winds will get increased to at least 175 mph (150 kt) considering there was a coverage hole after he chased away the Hurricane Hunters...

I am thinking about 160-165KT as those SFMR winds likely were valid

Felix looked quite impressive. I know Felix's pressure was high for 165 mph at 929 mb, but that was due to its small size, so tighter gradients.

There is Punta Gorda, Florida, which was hit by Charley and it too intensified right before landfall. Creepy.

Extratropical cyclones can make landfall. They went into depth because of how strong Noel was while it was extratropical; it was a very intense warm seclusion.

Noel's strongest days were as an extratropical storm, remember, it was strengthening when it went extratropical.
