does anyone in southern mississippi remember...

#1 Postby m_ru » Thu Dec 15, 2005 3:14 am

the time that there was snow on the coast. I just remember that I was in Gautier and there was snow @ my grandparents house that is right on the mouth of the Pascagoula river and that all the water in the marsh and several of the large lakes off of the river were frozen over....anyone else remember that? It was either @ Christmas time or around it and I think it was somewhere between 1989 and 1993.

I'm sure it was Christmas eve 1989. I remember looking over the Pascagoula river over by Lake Avenue and it was frozen nearly across the channel. Someone has posted http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=79399 I believe another hard freeze we've had was in '83 and it was around Christmas too. Last year it was great seeing snow fall in Gautier on Christmas day. It only lasted about 2 hours in between sleet showers . My kids and i even had enough to build a small snow man.
