I'm tellin' ya, we have waited for 13 LONG years for a return to a "normal" winter....I just HOPE and PRAY it keeps it up and I PRAY for the people in the Southeast that they get the needed moisture! I was watching TWC (YES....I STILL watch ye' ole' Weather Channel once in awhile, especially with this system AND the tropical system!) and TWC said that Southeast MAY get some MUCH needed moisture....I'll blow HARD and send it thataway when I'm done with it :cheesy:

*ding, ding*....Round 2!

Just about dark (daylight that is) and I'm in TOTAL white out conditions again! This is unbelievable...this much snow this time of year! Our normal snowfall for Dec. is 13", with last weeks storm combined with this one, I've already 21" and another 20" expected tonight! Sure is nice!

The lingering nature of this storm brought a ton of snow to areas north of Phoenix, especially from Flagstaff eastward. And with cool to cold weather continuing for a few days, this snow will be around for Christmas in the high country!! Congrats Dennis on all the white stuff.

Steve, you are so right, we have "THE" best snowpack in recent memory....say, 1996-1997 according to Sunrise Park Resort which is opening with what they are claiming to be THE best ski conditions on the mountain since the "MID 1980'S!" So that should tell everyone just HOW much snow we have!

The 10-20" did not materialize last night, in fact, we picked up 2", which honestly, is O'TAY :ggreen:

NOW to the sitch-e-a-chun at hand...another small system (of course, the past 3 systems over the past 1.5 weeks were supposed to be small) coming in Thursday night into Friday afternoon, then clearing for the weekend and then "BAM"...another week of unsettled, snowy, cold weather sets in!

Are we sure this isn't a "El Nino" year instead of "La Nina"? :ggreen:

BTW...it's 1630 hrs. MST and the temp is starting to plummet, a forecast low of 17° for SHow Low, that should make it a BALMY 0° to -2° down here in the "Snow and Cold Hole" I call home :cold:

THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY...ANOTHER TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS ARIZONA
BRINGING COLDER TEMPERATURES AND GUSTY NORTH WINDS. FOR THURSDAY
NIGHT WINDS WILL HOLD OFF LONG ENOUGH FOR THE FOG AND LOW CLOUD
THREAT TO CONTINUE ACROSS THE EASTERN HALF OF THE LITTLE COLORADO
RIVER VALLEY SOUTHWARD TO THE MOGOLLON RIM AND WHITE MOUNTAINS.
HOWEVER...BY FRIDAY MORNING STRENGTHENING WINDS AND COLDER
TEMPERATURES ALOFT SHOULD ACT TO CLEAR OUT THE STRATUS AND ALSO
BRING A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS...GENERALLY IN THE FORM OF LIGHT
SNOW OR FLURRIES.

FOR THE WEEKEND AND MONDAY...A FLAT RIDGE LOOKS TO BRING FAIR
WEATHER AND SEASONABLY COLD TEMPERATURES TO NORTHERN ARIZONA WITH
JUST A FEW PERIODS OF HIGH CLOUDS. HOWEVER...FOR TUESDAY AND THE
REMAINDER OF NEXT WEEK...THERE ARE PLENTY OF UPSTREAM WEATHER
DISTURBANCES WITH UNSETTLED WEATHER RETURNING TO NORTHERN ARIZONA.

WOW! It sounds like you got hit hard with a lot of snow azsnowman! Congrats on your possible white Christmas! :D I currently have 7" here in the Idaho panhandle. It looks like I could see at least 2" of additional snowfall through Christmas. How much snow do you have currently and please take some pictures! :D

Andy, I still have the original 26" from 3 systems back to back! Yeah, I'll take photos tomorrow afternoon AFTER tonights system...could possibly see another 3-6" :ggreen:

I hit the low DEAD ON!! Woke up at 0400 to absoulete 0° then at 0632 hit the low of -2°

NO melt off what so ever, the 14" icecycles on the house are the same now at 1600 hours than they were at 0400 this morning! High of 34° with a STIFF breeze out of the NORTH @ 18 mph, made it for one BLOODY cold day :cold: PLUS...the Sunrise Park Resort opens tomorrow with a reported 92" base up top, BEST skiing in OVER 10 years!

3 weeks ago, I was down some 4" in rainfall for the year...with the 8.81" of rain before the 26" of snow, needless to say, we are WAY up for the year to date! We are SLOWLY making up that 13 year defecit...gonna take a helluva lot more and the way it looks, we heading there!

Fun to check out the web cam page on Sunrise, just east of you Dennis. Some pretty heavy snow showers occurring on this first official day of the ski season. They have to love that 48" from which to start!!

No melting any time soon at that altitude and with this low sun angle.

Enjoy.

Wow! That's cold! :froze: I think this La Nina is in both of our favors this year. I now have 17" of snow on th ground with a lot more expected tomorrow, Tuesday, Thursday, and next Saturday. I'll be snowed in! :D I'll take some pictures for you.

By ALL means, come on over :ggreen:

I just checked NOAA and the extended has yet ANOTHER system by Weds and an even LARGER ONE for the WEEKEND!! That should put us over 3 FEET of snow for Christmas :cheesy: (needless to say, the 18" that fell last week hasn't EVEN begun to melt...the snow's STILL on the trees and it's been over 3 days!) :ggreen:
