Severe Weather Threat

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Sat Dec 13, 2003 2:33 pm

I know I posted this in the USA Discussion, but it hasn't even been touched yet there. lol

I have been hearing since last night that here in Central and North Florida, we are possibly going to receive severe weather late tonight or not till tomorrow.

They also said depending on how strong the Low pressure system gets may determine how bad it gets. Thank God he didn't say the word outbreak lol..

Anyway.. I want to get information from the local NWS in Melbourne or even Tampa, but they are both incredibly quiet.. It's almost eerie if you ask me.

Does anybody have any thoughts about this severe weather threat I may have coming? Opinions are always appreciated

Well, I feel that severe wx is definitely possible...if you notice the NWS radar from Mobile, well, they've got some strong showers there at the moment, and that means that you may have severe wx to deal with tomorrow...

The Rock.. I just checked the weather on my weatherbug. That developing squall line that is extending into the Gulf is creeping me out a little bit.

On 2/22-2/23/98 we had nearly an identical set up. Plus I'm always told that here in Florida, you want storms to come in off the Atlantic cause they are much more powerful coming off the Gulf of Mexico.

Thank you Rock.. This is a stupid question but I figured I'd ask lol..

I'm going to a Christmas parade in about 3 1/2 hours. I should be safe right..? They're really not expecting any "bad" weather till no earlier than after Midnight. {from what I heard}

I'll be home long before then lol

I think you might get a few showers before midnight, but the real heavy stuff might not be til 2-4am...thats a real tough call but it is my thinking attm...

Thank you very much.. I figured I'd be safe for the parade. :) I do find it kinda eerie that even my local NWS offices are not saying anything. It's making me a tad bit nervous that they are being so quiet.

They will probably say something by nightfall I think.

In fact.. I just read the local NWS discussion from Melbourne.. They will issue a hazardous weather threat assesment package later this afternoon.
