Texas Wx as different as Hot & Cold

#1 Postby CaptinCrunch » Mon Jan 26, 2004 10:42 am

Sunday was a wonderful sunny day with a high temp of 74 here in Kennedale a small town just south of Ft Worth Tx. I took my kids to the park, played football and let my 15 month old feed the ducks at the pond.

The high of 74 was the warmest it has been since early Dec and was 20 degrees above the normal high for this time of year in late January. But never worry, this is TX and if you don't like the Weather you just have to wait a day and it will change, Todays high was 57 at midnight and it has dropped since then to a current temp of 43 at our house, and will continue to drop for the rest of the day to a forecasted low tonight of 26. We will miss out again on any snow or ice as it will be up in OK and in the TX Panhandle. Tomorrows forecasted high is 46 with another low in the upper 20's to lower 30's but by the weekend it will be back in the lower 60's and I will have to wait for the next artic plunge and a chance for winter weather to come my way.

It wasn't till late February last year when we got socked in with 3 days of sleet & snow that gave me a couple days off from work. :D

So you eastern foke just enjoy your winter with all your SNOW and ICE and FREEZING temps and i will just watch from here and wish yall luck. :D

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED...
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1200 PM CST MON JAN 26 2004

.FORECAST UPDATE...
THE AREA OF LIGHT SNOW OVER NW TX IS BEING GENERATED BY LOW-LEVEL
FRONTOGENESIS SOUTH OF VORT LOBE. RUC AND MESOETA HAVE AN EXCELLENT
HANDLE ON THIS FRONTOGENESIS...AND BOTH MODELS DISSIPATE THE FORCING
AS IT MOVES EAST RAPIDLY. THEREFORE...WE EXPECT TO SEE THE AREA OF
LIGHT SNOW DECREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY DURING THE AFTERNOON.
WE WILL LIMIT LIGHT SNOW TO EXTREME NORTHWEST COUNTIES...WITH SOME
SCATTERED FLURRIES AS FAR S AS DFW DURING THE EVENING. THERE WILL BE
NO ACCUMULATION AS GROUND TEMPERATURES ARE ENTIRELY TOO WARM. EVEN
WHERE MODERATE SNOW IS FALLING OVER NW TEXAS...THERE HAS BEEN NO
REPORTS OF ACCUMULATION AS FALL RATES ARE TOO LOW...AND SFC TEMPS
ARE STILL ABOVE FREEZING.
