I'm watching the live stream on the NBC affiliate in Dallas. Definitely a good size tornado. Can see Power flashes, at one point you could see the wedge.

Front is already on the move across W Denton and NW Tarrant counties, so tornado threat should diminish pretty quickly here within the next two hours, but notso much for areas further south and east. Also a significant flooding threat is setting up in North and Northeast Texas.

Southern Collin County needs to have a heads up. Especially southeastern areas of the county

Update from Jeff:

Significant tornado outbreak underway over N TX.

Cluster of supercells have produced several damaging tornadoes across N TX with current double supercells producing tornadoes within the City of Dallas. Extensive damage has been reported in the suburb of Lancaster. Supercells have developed in uncapped and unstable warm sector ahead of main strong cold front surging now into NW TX. Radar shows extensive debris circulation on dual pol reflectivity’s near Rowlett, TX with large damaging tornado moving along I-30 corridor. Images from TXDOT cameras show at least ¼ mile wide tornado approaching Rowlett Rapidly from the south.

Second extremely dangerous tornado moving toward Garland and Rockwall…tornado at least ¼ mile wide.

Attention will quickly shift to SW TX between Del Rio and San Antonio where strong height falls and developing surface low in region of strong instability will foster rapid severe thunderstorms develop the next few hours. Significant bowing segments and supercells will be possible with damaging winds. SPC has outlooked this area with an “enhanced risk” and expect a tornado watch to be issued within the next few hours as strong forcing ejects out of NE MX and into this air mass.

Severe threat remains for SE TX Sunday including tornadoes.

A lot of rain. A big line is going to form out of this and crawl east ever so slowly over the same areas orienting SW to N/NE

Image

And it's not crazy to think maybe some of the areas with tornado damage might see some snowflakes tomorrow night into Monday...

00Z FWD sounding features over 3000 J/kg of CAPE, no capping, and very favorable wind profiles for supercells. With this kind of enviornment in place, it would be surprising to see any less activity than we've had.

Some of the images out of Rowlett-Garland area looks pretty extensive in terms of damages. Tough to gage what kind of rating might come out of it since the images are mostly dark but there's definitely significant damage.

You guys who live in Heath and Rockwall should take cover. Looks like the path may stay east of Heath but may skirt Rockwall.

Rain has been light to moderate with a few short heavier spurts mixed in here at my house.

The pictures out of Rowlett are pretty bad.
