Highs in the low 20’s on the euro with wind chills near zero in houston, some snow flurries and sleet as well, crazy run, though id expect with extreme runs like that, the ensembles wont make much of a budge overnight just yet

That's the kind of potential ceiling it could be. It's just orientation of ridge/troughs.

498 thickness into Oklahoma is just nuts. Basically the arctic is dislodged into the US on the Euro run, worth saving.

This Euro run is basically what mid Jan 1985 looked like if it were modeled back then.

Probably ocean effect snow, all that brutally cold air over warm oceanic water. Still it's fantasy.

I wouldn’t worry much about precip this far out. First thing you need to look for is cold and then worry about precip inside of 3 days.

You NEED the very cold air profile, thru all 3 levels of the atmosphere FIRST, to generate snow. Basically….get the cold cold air profile down south before anything else, because Artic air is so anomalous this far south. Moisture is generally available, but the timing of the two, is ALWAYS the big issue. Artic air first, moisture second.

Big boomers this morning. Loud and bright. Third time in five days to get thunderstorms. Rare this time of year. It's hard to get that in spring!!

It appears that the increased height of my Canadian border wall did not make it into the 00Z EC run. That'll be fixed for the 12Z run. Meanwhile, my pilot has been advised to prepare my private jet for a possible quick escape the morning of the 8th.

This morning the GFS and Euro continue to try to bring winter weather to Texas the week of January 5th and Canadian model brings it to Oklahoma.

Will be interesting over the next few days if we can get some run to run consistency.

Nice to look at though this far out.

That run on the Euro was wild especially considering it has seemed to be fairly conservative lately.
