At least we've been getting some decent rain to help with the drought, recently, in East Texas.

Looking forward to some rumbles of thunder tomorrow afternoon/evening!

Just for fun, close call for DFW just before Christmas. Soundings show a bit of a warm nose at 850 but lots of time for this to change 100 times. Fun to dream about scenarios for hour 318 when not much is going on.

Although after looking further, it did throw down this. Dare to dream...

Although i hate snow posts around 300 hours, that would be an amazing Christmas present with just a slight change!

Over the past few days, global models have been shifting southward with the track of the low...if that trend continued it could very well result in small amounts of snow for DFW. Only thing is, high res guidance hasn’t really had enough time to show any meaningful trends. But, I wouldn’t say you can 100% rule it out.

It’s kind of depressing. I remember when we used to get to 10 pages before December. Just doesn’t seem to be as good of a year yet—or maybe the years of lackluster winters has finally taken its toll on everyone.

In years past I would be watching this upcoming system for some signs that a last second shift south would be possible and then watching each model run for signs that it might happen. Then the last 3 winters happened. I think that stretch killed off a lot enthusiasm for winter weather. On the flip side, Oklahoma is having one hell of a winter!

I wouldn't totally rule out some wrap around flakes for N. Texas tomorrow afternoon. Surface temps will be in the mid-30s but the column looks to be sufficiently cold to support snow, eps. if there is any surprise banding than can produce higher rates.

I feel for you snow starved folks in north Texas. This has just gotta be rubbing salt in the wound with not one, but two snow events likely for Oklahoma over the next few days.

Oklahoma was having a bad luck streak as well. They have busted out this yr with the big ice storm, the big snow in western portions not too long ago and now the next few days. For many of us, Oklahoma is just a county away! Some good news, we might see an EPO driven cold dump around Christmas.

:froze: I picked a really good year to go to Norman. I’m currently in Norman awaiting to see if it will be 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches...I haven’t seen that much in almost 6 years!

Need to start watching the time around Christmas as the models are in pretty good agreement of an EPO driven cold dump. Get the cold in place and then we can work out the details. The GFS is leaving a lot of energy back to the SW that can kick out with cold air over the top.

It'd be interesting if something actually verified but they never seem to but maybe it's a good sign Oklahoma is breaking their drought

In any case 5 straight winters and DFW has measured 0.2 inches total I feel like a lot of places in this state with worse climo than us have had more in that timeframe
