I've got to agree, I'm beginning to think the eastern Metroplex is going to get ripped off by this event. Next round will probably be when the upper low transitions across, but big supply of moisture may be taken eastward by the surface low.

hate to rain on the parade, but latest discussion says not much after this wave. If you aren't getting it now, don't get your hopes up.

Well, looks like my "-removed-" of 10-12 inches will be egg all over my face. No wonder I should leave forecasting to real mets instead of wannabes like me.

Just measured outside and we've got 4.75 inches in my backyard on a flat surface. Second time in a week (72 hours, actually) that I've measured that amount on my deck.

If memory serves correct, we had one or two occurrences of back-to-back winter weather events back in the 1980s when I was a teenager, but I can't remember two such winter weather events in a week over the last 18 years or so. And I don't think I ever remember such back-to-back snow events in March.

Looks like from NOAA radar echoes that the precipitation shield is beginning to shift eastward and dry air is punching into the NW side as the heavy snow begins to wind down over the I-35 corridor. We're down to light to occasionally moderate snow now in Grayson County, so maybe another 1/2 inch or so for us before all is said and done this evening.

Does look like the upper level low will still rotate across tonight, so perhaps another inch or so overnight, but I'm beginning to doubt that.

Still, with nearly 10 inches of snow in four days, who is complaining? :D Certainly not me since I thought winter had come and gone without a flake just a week ago.

Good luck Dallas east - hope you see some snow this evening.

Man, I wish we had 4.5" of snow. It's just rain mixed with snow here in Rockwall. I'm not expecting much now. Just don't see it happening.

I am currently in some sleet right now, but it is looking like it won't change over to snow before it ends. I would think that the NWS will eventually downgrade us over to a Winter Weather Advisory in the Dallas area (the NWS may keep it as a Winter Storm Warning Northeast of us).

I think Portastorm is somewhere laughing right now. Lucy may have just pulled the football out on Dallas and points east.

NWS is still saying periods of snow tonight with another 2-4 inches possible in Grayson County, but I don't see it unless some more snow blossoms with the approach of the upper low.

Yeah, this sucks for my kids. They're watching TV and seeing all the areas NW of here with crazy snow on the ground; hearing about their cousins in Frisco with 8" of snow, and all we see is rain outside. Once again, Rockwall gets a rock.

Hey Portastorm, Lucy got me again. :)

This happened with the snow earlier this week too. Maybe next season.

The cold front just passed through northern Harris county. My temperature dropped from 64F down to 53.8F (and still falling) in a matter of minutes! Looking west of here, it seems like the downward temperature trend will continue. College Station is at 40F, Brenham is at 37F, Hearne is at 37F and Austin is at 38F.

We might get a inch or so from the snow band associated with the upper level low, but it does look to be a lighter snow variety than what some had earlier this afternoon. Last winter, we had the same situation. An Ice Storm was forecasted for the DFW area during a mid January weekend, it verified in Fort Worth, but in the Dallas area we only got a light coating of ice. Of course, that was offset by the surprise 0.25" of snow we got the Wednesday after that no one forecasted to happen.

this is why you should never believe it in Downtown Dallas until you see it on the ground....

2 upset kids and 1 upset adult here in Cedar Hill.......

While I saw Heavy Snow when leaving work in Coppell, as I drove further south, it turned to nothing but plain rain.

Cedar Hill got a little sleet -- thats it.

We got the shaft here. :(

Well, there are a few more echoes showing up out west. Maybe there is a little hope for another 1" or so when the upper low swings across. Good luck Dallas - hope you get some snow overnight.

I thought the main event wasn't scheduled to start until now. Looks like the precip sped up and out of the area before it got cold enough... for many of us.

Oh well, glad to see some of the kids up N get to see biggest snow event we've had in years. I was wondering if we'd ever see snow again like we had in the 70's/80's. Definitely doesn't get that cold anymore. Winter of 83-84 is still tatooed on my medula.

Weather channel local still saying 2-4 tonight.

Literally, you could go about 10 blocks in North Irving and transition from the rain to snow line like that. Very strange.

Hey TxSnowman and gboudx ... sorry guys. Lucy got ya, didn't she? I know, been there many times. You're so sure that THIS TIME it all looks too perfect for that winter weather event and everything has fallen into place ... the big, fat football is on the ground and you're thinking "oh this time I'm gonna kick that sucker" and then ... whoops, Lucy pulls the ball and all of a sudden you're staring at the sky on your backside! Fooled again. I feel for you!!

Well at least some of y'all got in on the action. I knew JB talking about 3 inches of snow as far south as me (Austin) was crazy. I'm glad I didn't buy into that hype.

You've got to admit though ... not many of us thought that the DFW area would get two snowfalls in one week, let alone in month of March. That is amazing!

We had to turn off the local news because all they're showing is the snow from all around the Metroplex, except here. My kids were going into depression. We had some sleet for about 30 mins before it all ended.

A new batch of moisture coming into west TX could offer some additional hope for snow later on tonight or early tomorrow across the state...
