For this edition of the Holiday Snow 2012, we ( Houston) will have to miss it. Now, January 2013...who knows....oh the high today, 75...sigh....

There will plenty of action in Houston on Christmas, may not be snow but maybe you can get a storm to dump several inches of small hail! Close right? Seriously though, could be some strong thunderstorms that way.

12z GFS is unwavering at the surface, but again here we see it trying to cut off and go negative tilt over North Texas. If it does the qpf will likely be much more from the trowel than shown.

I know, I was about to add the severe threat. It could be interesting around here. I will be in Santa Fe at the time of this event. Fun. LOL

Concern is definitely growing that a severe weather event will unfold for those of us south and southeast of whatever winter "fun" occurs closer to the Red River. Looks like we'll be dealing with a squall line, Tiremen4, and the further east it goes the greater risk for severe weather and possibly tornadoes. I want the rain badly but could do without the tornadoes.

Since the Oklahoma Winter thread is absolutely dead I am going to tag along here for now.

When I went to bed last night I thought to myself I wonder if this thing could really bomb out over OKC the long range GFS had a big storm and then it flopped back towards a dusting. Now we are seeing the NAM move into December 2009 range on multiple runs. This will shut Oklahoma down if it verifies. I haven't seen any maps on the 12z GFS yet its only out to 30 hours on Twister Data but you can see the cold air marching down the central plains. My gut feeling is good on this one.

Agreed Porta. There will be rotation in some of those storms....especially east.

This is always an interesting graphic when we're dealing with dynamic storm systems such as what will be impacting Texas in a few days. Below is the latest thinking from the HPC on surface low tracks.

Check out the Canadian. This tight baroclinic zone is really coming to fruition, somebody is going to get clocked with near blizzard snows. 1040hp over the Dakotas

Edit: Ukmet is just as far south if not further
