Snowing here in Seminary, as well. Changed from sleet to snow about 8:30. Moderate snow, I guess you'd call it. Starting to cover rooftops and car tops. Looks like, according to the radar, we are in for a major snowfall!

Just changed back over to light snow here..... hopefully it'll pick up in intensity soon.

A couple of hours ago we were at 37 and McComb at 36. McComb is down to 33 and we are still at 37. Nothing but rain near Baton Rouge. I am starting to think we are pretty much looking at rain all night since the sleet was supposed to start back up by now and hasn't ... one can hope though. Looking good to my north for quite an event.

Yeah, it was sleeting here is Mobile starting around 1pm, yet it still showed rain on radar. I don't know why, but raindrops are not ice pellets the bounce off your windshield while driving! Maybe radar will catch up!

Starting to accumulate on cars and roofs. Flakes are getting bigger. Our show looks like it's about to start here in the Pine Belt.

Ok, 8 to 10 inches is just unreal. We all want snow, but do ANY of us want THAT much?

Last year we got 8-12 inches from Hammond LA north to Amite LA which is in southeast Louisiana along I-55. The snow rates were impressive for a few hours and that is how it managed to happen. It shouldn't be ruled out.

Hattiesburg, MS. About 60-70 miles NNW of Gulfport/Biloxi.

Oh, I think it's within the realm of possibility, especially if a heavy snow band sets up shop in the area. Right now it just strikes me as amusing. On the more serious side of things, 8-10 inches would bring Mobile to a dead halt.

Oh, and FWIW that kind of snowfall on the coast has supposedly happened before. I found an PDF of snow accumulations for Feb 1895 and a spot along the coast of Mississippi got over 20 inches of snow with that event. Then again, that event was truly extraordinary with 30 inches in Beaumont, 15 in Galveston, 20 in Houston, 24 in Rayne LA and snow all the way down to Brownsville TX. Other places along the Mississippi coast got a mere 6. :) It was MUCH colder for that event though.

It's been sleeting very heavy for about an hour now. Starting to get a glaze on the vehicles. Hopefully it will change to snow soon.
