So close........Yet so far away!!!!! That's it I'm moving to Lynden

Currently 36.5 degrees and a rain/snow mixed here.

Brennan,

Enjoy for all of us!!! This was a fairly localized event...elevations above 500 feet along the Hood Canal and Bellingham. Like I said, Bellingham could get 6 inches from this thing.

W-13,

Unfortunately, it will probably be cold enough for lowland snow tonight...but the moisture is departing too quickly and thus we should be partly cloudy. But you never know.

Currently 36 F with heavy RAIN!! No more snow...though the winds have shifted to a southwesterly direction. Oh well. Very depressing...unless you live in Bellingham.

Still Snowing heavily. It's now 30* in Ferndale with a NE 7 up there. It's blowing NE 12 in Bellingham still so I am expecting it to get colder here.

WAZ001-002-070300-
Snow Advisory just issued for you Brennan!!!

Guess 30 degrees (like what Ferndale, Lynden ect are reporting) is slightly above freezing  "TEMPERATURES ARE SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING...SO HEAVIEST ACCUMULATIONS
WILL BE ON GRASSY SURFACES"

An example of how NWS doesn't like to admit when they are wrong, they didn't see that coming up north!!

SAN JUAN ISLANDS-WESTERN WHATCOM COUNTY-
1230 PM PST SUN FEB 6 2005

...SNOW ADVISORY THROUGH 7 PM PST TONIGHT..

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SNOW ADVISORY FOR THE SAN
JUAN ISLANDS AND WESTERN WHATCOM COUNTY THROUGH 7 PM TONIGHT. EXPECT
WET SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO TWO INCHES THIS AFTERNOON.
TEMPERATURES ARE SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING...SO HEAVIEST ACCUMULATIONS
WILL BE ON GRASSY SURFACES.

Still raining like crazy here!! Heavy rain with a temperature of 35 F...how depressing is that?! It never seems moisture and cold air can meet together. Hopefully this precip sticks around tonight...maybe a quick changeover to snow?! lol.

Am I the only one who isn't disappointed? Sure this winter hasn't been the greatest for snow, more so in the mountains than the lowlands, but we are Seattle. This is what we are known for -- 40 degrees and rain. This is what is to be expected, snow is the exception not the ordinary here. Let's enjoy the snow when we get it and not get bothered when it doesn't.

Currently 40 degrees and rain :)

I was thinking about the possibility of a PSCZ...but the track of the surface low is not conduscive for one to form. The surface low would have to track right over Western Washington...then you would get a nice PSCZ form right behind it. But current projections suggest it will track into northern Oregon. But I guess the possibility is there. Still HEAVY rain with a few flakes mixed in every once in awhile.

Honestly, I am disappointed. I never rains heavy with a temperature of 35 F. It may rain heavy with a temperature of 47 F, but not 35 F...we're so close yet so far away.

Anyone see that show on Alaska last night at 11? I think it was on the Travel Channel. It was an awesome look at the winter up there. Part of the show was around crab fishing, another around mining, as well as a guy who flies supplies into remote parts of state. The snow was so unbelievably fluffy and light, I would die to get some of that here. If you happen to notice a show about Alaska coming up, be sure to catch it. I've always wanted to move there and this show made me want to even more.

A part of me is dissapointed, the other part is not.
Even though first part of Jan didn't get the "1950" weather that was predicted, we (at least up where I live) had snow fall for 5 days straight, which was good to see, though the most I had on the ground in one shot was 3". Temps got down to the upper teens/20's for lows, and my highs did not get above the mid 30's for almost two weeks.

And once again we are flirting with snow, and hopefully this all will lead into a great big finale of winter 8-) in a few weeks or so. Maybe into even March like TT says.

It's still snowing here. I wish it was about 10 oclock at night and a few degrees colder and this would be twice as good. The snow is sticking and there is about an inch and a half to 2 inches on the grass at my house... Just about 500 feet up in Elevation from my house there is a TON of snow already. My house is 307 feet elevation to be exact. At least 3 inches on the road up there and it is 30.4 degrees. I took some pictures and I will get them put on a card and show you all during the week sometime hopefully...

I hope it keeps snowing and I want it to get a little bit colder... The NE wind is picking up even more now but we are still approaching the warmest part of the day... Hope this continues throughout the evening. I'll keep updating...
