How about adding the phrase "in North Texas" after the word "people."

C'mon weatherdude ... we need to have a legitimate winter weather event down here in Austin this season. Have to! It's been three years since we've had ANY winter event of any consequence and nine years since we've had an inch or more of snow. Give a little love to your hometown before you start shutting down winter?!

LATEST HIGH RESOLUTION MODEL GUIDANCE INDICATES THAT A PLUME OF
MID LEVEL MOISTURE WILL RAPIDLY SPREAD NORTHEAST ACROSS NORTH TEXAS
AHEAD OF A FAST MOVING SHORTWAVE. THIS MOISTURE IS JUST BENEATH A
SHALLOW LAYER OF VERY STEEP LAPSE RATES ABOVE 600MB. WITH WEAK
ASCENT BENEATH THESE STEEP LAPSE RATES...SCATTERED SLEET SHOWERS

Off topic but if he's a Longhorn fan, I would recommend he stay home. There's nothing more miserable than driving a long distance and sitting in a cold, windy stadium watching your favorite college football team get stomped by the opponent. And I'm afraid my Longhorns are gonna get stomped. I'm still cold when I think about my experience at the Cotton Bowl on January 1, 1991.

LOL!!! You should have been there Jan. 1, 1979 for the Houston vs. Notre Dame game. I still feel the same way you do. We drove back to Houston and it was icy the entire way and snowing when we drove into Houston finally after a 10 hour drive that usually took 5 hours on a bad day. And we lost!!

I said "a lot" of people. Not ALL people. Yeah, we need our SNOW Winter. Ice is fun, but dangerous with tree falls and power disruptions. Snow is peaceful.

OK while all you North Texans are still enjoying your "Icemageddon" fun, I'm trying to spin up a little winter interest down south. So, I'm playing Where's Waldo or in this case, Where's Any 500mb vorticity? Looking over the 0z NAM, the model does appear to generate more overrunning precip tomorrow than its 12z and 18z runs. I haven't looked yet at the SREF, NAM-HIRES, or RAP. So I don't know how valid this trend is.

Also in la-la land on the 18z GFS a strong baroclinic/deformation zone develops between Texas Panhandle and the mountain west about a week from now, leading to the development of a mid-latitude cyclone that brings a significant amount precip. to texas before heading eastward. Temps may not be cold enough for winter precip. but at this point it is still quite a ways away.

I do know that I've been looking at WV Loops recently & the SJT is still open for business. It actually still looks decent right now. Even the pipeline looks intact.

Some of my family up in Rockwall county have been without power since 6 in the morning. Hotels are full up in that area.
