Important

A.V. Has already made it clear once that they don't believe this front will not be as advertised and readers have already noted. To the poster, please wait until after the temperatures verify or not verify to continue the claim that we already know. Repeating it four times does not add anything new, simply quoting your original post after verification will be sufficient. Unless you are noting live numbers or values that is current and not verifying to forecast.

The matter has already been stated to be ended in a previous post. I will start deleting posts to and from such matter.

Thanks for your help and back to winter weather. Also do not respond to posts you deem not fit for the thread. Please report it and we as staff will handle it accordingly,

Update: winter mix has turned to on and off light snow and coming hunting today is still a stupid idea. Windchill still around 10.

18z GFS continues the theme of potential Christmas system for some areas of Texas. Lets hope for some good trends the coming days to give us all a little snow for Christmas. Euro has made the leap at 5h to look similar to the GFS

It's not often that you see a planned wind chill advisory juxtaposed with a current temperature of 92°F, but that's the case down in McAllen where wind chills are expected to get into the low 20s early Monday morning following near- if not record highs today.

Not yet, might need to borrow some of your Sitka Gear!

Down to 35 here in Denison. Light drizzle beginning too. Wind is howling outside (N/NW at 20). Big front for sure.

One thing to keep in mind is while it will get to freezing tonight, tomorrow night is when we are going to be in the prolonged deep freeze. IF by chance some areas end up not dropping below 32 overnight tonight, it's a very safe bet that tomorrow will be much colder. Honestly IMO, it's going to get below 32 tonight in Austin and I'm actually looking forward to it. These Asian Ladybugs are really getting annoying so I'm hoping that the freeze will take them out.

I know there are different thresholds for windchill advisories but am not able to find them. Does anyone have a link? Was wondering how low the windchills have to be before an advisory is issued in the Austin area.

I wasn't able to find a link with thresholds for the Austin/San Antonio weather forecast office, but from what I can tell NWS EWX doesn't really issue wind chill advisories often. They've only issued two since 2005, and both were in early February 2011 for wind chills that were "single digits above zero or near zero ... with some wind chill values falling into the single digits below zero across the Hill Country."

That front is already past Waco and racing south. I don't see it coming through Houston around 12am. It will be much earlier than that...

The streak stays alive . No shutout this year at the airport. DFW as of 6pm is at freezing wind chill in the mid teens. 18Z GFS had DFW at 38 at 00Z which is 6pm...even worse 12z had DFW at 45

Already 29 in Frisco. Temps are falling below freezing sooner that I thought they would. The winds are howling.

It's very cold in the middle of the country. With very cold temperatures upstream and CAA going strong, I'm starting wonder if the MOS output numbers will verify in the teens this evening and mid teens tomorrow night. 19F is the number to beat for DFW in December of 2013 being the coldest in a while for this month.

Also HP is still barely respectable around 1030. Some run of the mill 1030HP's doesn't even get overnight lows below freezing. It's all about source region. December 2013 gave similar numbers but nearly 1050HP

:uarrow: Maybe we can make a case for the ever elusive single digit reading Monday morning? We will see.

The winds will have to calm to almost zero for a chance. Dewpoints will be well below 0, so lots of room to fall.

Front just passed through Jacksonville. Boy, that wind was howling with its first push through town! It was pretty neat, I was going about 35 mph south through town on US69, and a bunch of dust and leaves were moving right along with me at the same pace. Got stopped at a red light and everyone, including myself, had their window cracked sticking their hands out to feel how strong the wind was blowing.

Cold front just moved through here. Heard on roof as we were watching tv. My four year old daughter and I were just out catching leaves! :D. Immediate drop in temp. The Arctic has arrived. :flag: :cold:

I see looking at the obs already just upstream from you all in North TX this hour that temperatures are already in the mid teens across much of Oklahoma and with the strong cold air advection with this arctic airmass, it may be possible Ntxw that DFW may see 18 - 20 degrees by sunrise tomorrow morning. It will be a close call though about this.
