Just want to remind everyone - or perhaps stats curse - that in 128 years every single winter at DFW or predecessor has received a trace of snow. Every. Single. One. Let’s not panic.

All kinds of potential ahead... And no every run isn't gonna catch them

No reason to panic or get upset if a run doesn't show it 10 days ou

Theres not been a winter here with no accumulation since 1904 and we're not about to start this year

That's the most active I've seen the GEFS for next weekend. The 0z GFS had a full blown snowstorm here next Saturday

Something is coming for sure

There’s enough consistency in the models that I’m starting to buy into the shortwave on the 17th. The question is, will it be able to tap into moisture and will temps be cold enough to support a storm.

Oh wow, how did I forget.........

1 year ago today we had that really good snow storm in Ponder that I live streamed for you all. My photos just showed up on my time line.

I forgot just how much snow we got. :froze:

The Euro has the system a bit slower, which could extend some severe risk farther west into deep East Texas. Something to watch before any potential winter activity afterward.

Well look at that. Day 1 slight risk in deep east Texas.

Seriously? You're going to believe one outlier run of the GFS nearly 10 days out? At the same time, the EC has high pressure dominating Texas, not even any precip. These fantasy winter storms are common in the long-range GFS. Looks like another fantasy.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy one last 80 degree day here in Houston before getting out my electric blanket and space heater for temps in the 40s and 50s. That will make five 80+ deg days so far this month. I'm still thinking we may see 90 degrees in February, as in other "6" years like 1986 and 1996. Come on, 90s!! :onfire: :firedevil:

Well, to be fair, it has showed that scenario more than once….

Tropical influences in Texas weather in January would be cool if it happens. There is weak Euro support for the GFS/GEFS showing EPac tropical development. Nothing big, but January!

I’ve noticed the CPC thinks it’ll be mainly east of us as well.

Ntxw yeah, CMC gets close to the right setup for wintry fun, also looks like the GFS keeps the - EPO in place where it was eroding it a couple days ago, must be seeing the fast switch to P7

May as well move right into the 90's as it seems any worthwhile winter isn't in the cards for us. I feel storm season wasn't very active last year and fall storm season was almost nonexistent. Hopefully 2026 will be more interesting
