The Euro is so bad with shallow low level cold, it should get extremely discounted for certain times of the year around here

It's official. First, and hopefully the only, freeze recorded at Bush airport in north Houston. I saw my thermometer in SW Houston dip to 31 deg last hour. Hope this cold lasts through May!

Edit: 30.7F at 9:13am.

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

Of course it gets stronger east of DFW. No sign of any flakes or sleet here.

Got down to 18 since the weather station started working again overnight somehow.

 I see the phantom cold miser showed up. Every once in awhile when the resident heat miser is threatened, as coping mechanism, wxman57's alter ego does show up here and there. Just watch his avatar shift!

Snippet:

1st post wxman57: I must say, I'm really starting to love cold winter weather. This morning's sub-freezing temperatures across Houston made me realize that cold weather is good, heat is bad. I only wish I could experience many more sub-freezing days in Houston before spring arrives. In addition, daytime highs in the low to mid 40s are far more enjoyable than highs above 80 degrees.

Lol there was a lot of crow to be had when that was said after last January’s storm. I’ll roll the dice for another 6 weeks before packing it in.

Yeah February is probably gonna be the peak again I'm guessing. January has been usually too dry as evidenced here last night  like literally we almost had accumulation from a flizzard but there was just no moisture

Ran 7 miles this morning in Colorado County with a wind chill of 14.

Normal mile splits in mild or hot weather are around 8 minutes. I was ripping off ~7 mile splits in this weather.

It felt so good.

There must have been a very large bear (or two) chasing you. I ran to the outdoor garbage can to drop in two full garbage bags. Almost didn't make it back.
