Great pix, Brent!
We got about 5 inches of snow by the time it was all said and done. I just wish my camera would have taken pix at night when those huge flakes were falling. They were among the biggest I've ever seen!

To give some context, this was Pike County southeast of Troy, AL around noon today.

All Alabama state highways CLOSED due to ice. Wow. This didn't even happen in 93...
Oh and...
Sunday Night: A chance of rain before 1am, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 31. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

I woke up to the nicest frost this morning, my neighborhood looked like it was blanketed in snow, snow which my area missed out on getting yesterday except for a brief 30 minute show of snow which melted just as soon as it hit the ground. The sun is beginning to come up, currently it's 32F with winds out of the NNW at 4.

It's not classic ice. What happened is all the snow that fell yesterday melted on the roads, then last night temps dropped below freezing and the water refroze creating sheets of ice.
So...

Re: Deep South Snow/Winterwx thread (2009-2010)
I was very happy to see SOME snow yesterday, but a little disappointed in the amount. In my opinion this storm was a major bust in my area. So my question is, does anyone think there's any chance at all that we see more snow in extreme southeast Ms in the next 2 weeks? The reason I ask is that i've been hearing we might have another cold shot coming down in that time frame.

The pattern favors more threats for sure, it's going to remain cold and active through at least the end of the month. Now whether it actually snows is another matter, but there should be chances at least further north(on the coast, who knows, given the right storm track it's possible), but more likely further north.
and yeah, the coastal areas got doomed by the more northern track yesterday. More warm air, less snow. IMO though should be glad it snowed at all down there. This was a very very rare and unusual storm.

Yeah, that area south of Jackson has hit the jackpot the last few years, more snow than us even further north.
The Euro shows a very interesting storm a week from today, the track is similar to yesterday's storm. Bears watching but too far out for details yet.

...WINTRY PRECIPITATION EXPECTED FOR NORTH AND PORTIONS OF CENTRAL
GEORGIA SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING...
A STORM SYSTEM DEVELOPING OVER THE PLAINS WILL MOVE QUICKLY INTO
THE TENNESSEE VALLEY REGION BY SUNDAY MORNING...SPREADING PRECIPITATION
INTO PORTIONS OF NORTH AND WEST GEORGIA SUNDAY AFTERNOON. AT THIS
TIME...IT APPEARS THAT THE PRECIPITATION ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON WILL
FALL AS RAIN. HOWEVER...AS WE GO INTO SUNDAY NIGHT THE PRECIPITATION
IS EXPECTED TO BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD WITH RAIN BECOMING MIXED
WITH SNOW ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA DURING THE EVENING. PRECIPITATION
IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE TO ALL SNOW ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA AFTER
MIDNIGHT...AND CONTINUE INTO MONDAY MORNING. ACROSS PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL GEORGIA A RAIN-SNOW MIX IS EXPECTED...GENERALLY NORTH OF A
COLUMBUS TO MACON LINE.
LATEST INDICATIONS ARE THAT SOME AREAS ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA COULD
SEE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS IN THE 1 TO 2 INCH RANGE...MAINLY FROM A
CEDARTOWN TO GAINESVILLE LINE NORTHWARD...BEFORE THE SNOW TAPERS
OFF TO FLURRIES MONDAY AFTERNOON.
THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY...AND SMALL ADJUSTMENTS IN THE
STORM TRACK MAY MAKE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE POTENTIAL SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATIONS. RESIDENTS OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA ARE URGED
TO MONITOR THEIR NOAA WEATHER RADIOS OR THEIR LOCAL MEDIA FOR
LATER UPDATES.

Just my opinion, but I don't believe this upcoming event will be too big. It's associated with a strong cold front which will continue to dry things out as cold air advection kicks in with little moisture return from the gulf. However, it will put a deep freeze in places with residing moisture which can pose problems. It will be a bigger problem in the mid south and Appalachian mountains.

I agree, this won't compare to yesterday but I think the ground will whiten in a lot of areas, the bigger problem I think will be black ice for Monday Morning.
