by looking at the latest data i would say there would be some serious accumulations
along the redriver, i mean serious with blizzard like conditions winds 45-50 mph out of the
north its gonna be crazy, something that has not been seen in many, many years in this part.. dallas-fortworth area will likely get several inches and i mean in dallas proper as well.. very proud to stand by my forecast =)
edit: one thing worth noting the temp has actually risen a couple degrees over the last hour back up to 47 here

I wouldn't be too surprised should things continue the way they go according to models, the warnings expand especially with strong winds expected. Just maybe

They should seriously consider hoisting a blizzard watch, although I doubt they have the cajones to do that...

That's probably a bit extreme, though at times i believe some parts of North Texas would have that criteria. Last I recall it isn't how much snow falls, but rather the visibility which usually resulted from high winds.

Upper Low has continued to move south, expect low to move just to the SSE of DFW area as it pulls to the NE. GFS and NAM are still to warm with temps, expect a cold rain to raplidly cool the lower cores alowing for a sleet frz rain mix to fall. This will lower ground temp pretty fast and with any heavy snow burst we get could indeed cause travel problems across all of DFW area. NWS FTW will more than likely issue a winter storm watch for the DFW area and Winter storm warning to the areas W and NNW. Snow accu could be anywhere from 3 to 5 inches to the N and W with 1 to 3 inches acrss all of DFW area thru friday morn.
Next system to arrive Tuesday night with cold air in place and chances for another winter precip event for NTX.
STAY TUNED!
edit: I would gas up and stock up of firewood and supplies tonight!

For where?
Denton, and counties to the north and northwest. I see conditions meeting criteria there(sustained 30+mph winds with gusts over 40mph and heavy snowfall for 3-6+ hours).

Think it's safe to label this the Christmas Eve snowstorm 09? For the red river valley north

Nothing is safe to say right now.
Looks quite promising as we are approaching within 12-24 hours time frame. And pretty much all of the models are in agreement, probably as best as we will see in awhile.
