Well msstateguy83, you should be getting some freezing rain or snow real soon. Altus is reporting freezing rain and Abilene has snow as does Hobart, Ok.

while the following is just my reading of the models and NOT my actual forecast i just
posting to be careful, the latest models showing a bit of a warm nose above the freezing layer in this may delay the transition to snow... which would provide for a brief period of freezing rain and sleet for a couple extra hours mainly to the north, also now looks like north-central ok could be looking at more of a ice event. overall dont think this will bring snow amounts down a whole lot still very significant amounts by the end of the day across the redriver region of sc ok and nw tx.

It does seem like closer to the deepening low, the transition is occurring faster than areas farther away from it and cooling the column of air below it. This could be a factor for snow totals later on.

Fyi it's pretty much blizzard-like conditions out in Lubbock where it's 27 degrees currently with winds gusting over 36mph

after looking @ the latest data suggust this could be even more serious then first though looking
like a frz rain/sleet mix thru out the morning across a large portion of central ok and spots into sc
ok , nw tx.. with more likely snow sooner the further south BUT there is now more frz rain/sleet in the
picture so we will have that then all have snow across most of the region by noon today. frzing rain
on top of snow. what a mess!

I see Wichita Falls reporting north winds at 21 mph during the last hour. Winds combined with frozen tree limbs, etc. = bad combination. Be careful up there! We need you reporting all day to us!

I don't say this often . . . but this morning I wish I was in Lubbock. At 7 am, they reported snow and blowing snow with 26 degrees and a north wind at 30, gusting to almost 40. Now THAT is winter weather! :cold:

Moderate rain here at 39 - waiting for temps to lower some more and the changeover to begin.

Looks like there could be some convective activity in all of this by looks of the radar - snow w/thunder possible? I've only seen that a couple of times - once here, once in northern Kansas.

While this is not an official forecast and is purely my opinion, I tend to agree with Msstateguy83. Based on radar presentation of this storm, it's speed, and route of travel, I think it is highly possible that someone is going to get clocked either side of the Red River with upwards of a foot of snow. OKC NWS is showing potential for 10+ bulls-eye in a portion of south-central Oklahoma.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Portastorm,

I'm in the Sherman/Denison area about five miles from the Oklahoma border.

Hope that there is more than a cold rain to report today! :D
