Winter storm in the fantasy range Gfs looks pretty epic.

It's a little east but you're talking shifts of a massive trough.
Last year in late January when the models were showing nuances of what was to become in February we were looking at these kinds of shifts. For cycles the PV was a little far east, little too far west, too much SW flow on and on. Eventually it all came true. PV went northeast with the strongest upper cold, western trough dug west for snows, and SW flow brought ample moisture.
Yeah at this range shifts like that are inevitable. They’re going to happen.

We're not done trending with the weekend system either. Euro has seen some sig shifts west/south. Keep it going and who knows. Potent shortwave for sure.

Yeah and we're not talking fantasy land either. This is the kind of trend you want to see inside 5 days. I'm definitely feeling a little optimistic up here and I thought we had no shot yesterday

Weather geek and a storm spotter in West Austin. Not a degreed meteorologist. Big snow fan. Love rain and cold! Despise heat!

The best snow is always at your own house. But desperate times call for desperate measures

Man I watch the Weather Channel when I know a snowstorm or blizzard is happening in another city. It is like watching a wood fire on the TV when it is 82 on Christmas day.

Lol these trends continue might just have to go to Arkansas

I'm not totally convinced about Georgia outside the mountains the last minute NW trend that always happens over there it seems could screw them. Usually you don't want to be the bullseye at this range

That same system turns into a very potent Nor'Easter a few days after.

Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
I would be reluctant to believe the days 14-16 GFS 12Z run (or any hour run). We've seen how poorly it does beyond about 4-5 days. Still looks like no snow for TX over the next 10 days (GFS, Euro, and Canadian). Brent will likely see some snow Saturday, but he lives half way to Canada.

I live in Georgia.

And in the dead center of the area of the most snow.
But also Ice and ice is not fun.
And like Brent said. But hey, I am excited.

I can't believe it's apparently been almost 4 years since the Atlanta airport measured snow

I remember something similar before February happened last year. Anyone have the graphic saved?

Fingers crossed. I could go for 10-15 straight days of lows in the teens/20s and highs in the 20s/mid 30s then you miserable warm weather lovers can have your 9 month hell.

Ouch. But fortunately for me I am in the foothills so we get more snow than Atlanta usually.
