This place is almost exclusively a TX board. Just the way it is. I suggest staying in the TX thread and using what they post to help determine chances east of there.
THIS particular thread is for DEEP SOUTH WINTER 2024-2025, not almost exclusively a Texas board. :larrow:

I am aware. I was talking about the place as a whole. The majority of posters that come to S2K are interested in the TX area. I know this particular thread is for the Deep South.

Maybe for the winter, but for the tropics that’s a completely different ballgame. It’s like the people that live from LA to points east don’t care much about winter weather and are only interested in the tropics because during hurricane season the Talkin Tropics thread is loaded with people from those regions.

Good point about winter forum vs tropic forum.

Ivan, any chance you can share any images from the most recent Euro run?

Is there any place to see what Baton Rouge is modeled to receive? There used to be an awesome link that was broken down every 3 hours or so that showed temp, precip amount, precip type, etc. I think that got shut down years ago, sadly.

Try not to take each run as gospel. The pattern is what we are after.

Cold air in place with active southern jet. The details will become clearer in a few days ImageImage

12z Euro ensemble mean is a thing of beauty for the Gulf coast

I don't recall seeing the ensemble mean showing this much snow for the gulf coast

We have had so many false alarms it's hard to be too concerned at this point. Haven't had a big snow in quite a few years in e central nc.

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

As someone who grew up in Alabama yeah it's been a long time since we've seen a setup like this

I know people over there who haven't seen a flake in 2 years

12z gfs still flirting with snow along the gulf coast.

Important not to hang up on the details. Pattern is still for cold air in place and an active southern jet

Isn't that the truth. It's almost always Lucy and the football with the models here. It's either too far south, too far north, the dreaded warm nose or a complete bust (most often). But, that's the way it's supposed to be, I guess. I believe the cold part, not sold on the snow part until the day before. Happy New Year!
