Active night on the thread!! Currently a light rain/snow mix with a temp of 34F.

That PSCZ is sitting on the Snohomish/King county line...esp. east of I-5. Duvall is probably getting hit hard...maybe even with some wet snow.

For people who claim last week was winter...it wasn't. Winter in February does not include sunshine with temps in the 50s...that's SPRING. And this week looks no different...maybe a little cooler but still SPRING.

Until we get a solid, cold front to pass through Western Washington I consider all this weather to be Spring. And honestly, it feels awesome!! Forget about winter for this year and let's move on to spring and then SUMMER!! I'm counting down the days until we hit 80F with sunshine...it happened on March 30 last year...maybe earlier this year? With the way the weather pattern is going, I wouldn't be surprised if we hit 80F by February 28.

In any event, another AWESOME week on tap. Next weekend features more showers but I'll be in Phoenix so I don't care!!!

Auctually we didn't make it out of the low 40's last week for highs, lows in the mid/upper20's and in the shade the frost never melted until the rain on Sat washed it away. All of our bodies of water were frozen solid at the course, and are still covered today. See link.........

BUT that was here in my area.

Oh and WOW you must have frequent flyer miles to use up
Its rare I get to travel to the other side of the mountains anymore, let alone another state every weekend:lol: Work spoiles all the fun

TT all those things you listed are crazy... Not one of them was really weather related... i could care less about the grass and the trees and the flowers and all that romantic crap that has nothing to do with the weather. As R-DUB and SNOW WIZZARD have said about where they live, there hasn't been much sign of spring up here in Bellingham either... We had a dusting of snow on the ground from last sunday until this friday. Today, there was mix rain and snow along lake sammish around 5:45 which doesn't even happen on 90% of winter days... The high temps last week were in the upper 30's to low 40's all week and reached 46 on friday and again on yesturday. It is currently 33* and partly cloudy... The Calender says February 13th, Spring starts March 21st, there are parts of almost every winter that have temps in the upper 40's and low 50's with sun... So i guess there is a little spring in every winter right TT? And when we had record temps in early January of 2002 I bet you were thinking spring 3 months early right? Well the end of January had a miniature arctic outbreak that dropped 14 inches of snow in 3 days here at my house in Bellingham...

And you posted earlier and said, Temps late week reaching 50 with overnight lows near 30, welcome to spring... According to my book reaching 50 happens more than half of the time in February as of the past 8 years so saying that 50 in february is crazy...

And you didn't convince me or snowwizzard that it was spring out... you made a lousy attempt to but you didn't phase me a bit. It is in the dead of winter and these next two days will definately seem like it... I could care less that there is an hour more daylight than earlier in the winter... Also according to my book, February 13th has had the exact same amount of daylight since the beginning of time... So why even bring it up when talking about weather? You are being rediculous...

Brennan... wow.

How can you and Anthony be the same age?? The difference in maturity level is striking.

Romantic??? Trees and grass and flowers are as much a part of the natural world as snow and rain.

Everyone else I talk to mentions the signs of spring... if you want to put blinders on and pretend its not happening then I give up on you. You are WAY too much into winter. Move to Fairbanks where there is no green grass until June. Don't live down here in this mild climate where spring arrives in FEBRUARY and tell me its the dead of winter. You did not even read my post. Half of what I said WAS weather related. READ IT AGAIN. SLOWLY. PLEASE.

Snow_Wizzard is FAR more reasonable and balanced than you (and I think he loves winter too much to be really objective).

Read Anthony's last post. It was right on. And it is spring.

Wow Anthony you sound like a replica of TT now... That talk of Spring is stupid. R-Dub just showed a picture of a frozen pond at a golf course for last week. How is that spring? You say we have to wait for a decent cold front to pass through to throw out the talk about snow? Well what is that we are in right now? A warm cold front or what? I don't get you man... You are out of your mind, along with TT. Temps Monday and Tuesday will feel nothing like spring. Today felt nothing like spring either. I was freezing my A** off at the mall in Lynwood. I drove through a convergence zone with mixed rain and snow and passed by 4 thermometers on the side of the freeway between Lynwood and Bellingham that all read below 40 degrees. That sure sounds like a great spring day to me.

Its feels and looks like mid-spring. Early spring is not so green or with so many blossoms. That is the natural world telling you that its SPRING.

If it does not feel like winter... then by default it must be some stage of springtime. I do not know of any other season in the middle.

I am 16 and anthony is 18.. me and most of my friends act like elementary schoolers still and we have a pretty good time doing it.. but when it comes to weather I think I am fine... You are being really stubborn if you ignore the fact that R-DUB showed a picture of his pond frozen and said he never got out of the low 40's last week. How is that spring? HE LIVES NEAR EVERETT.... I GUESS I'LL SAY IT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE WINTER,,, EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN, BUT IT IS FAR FROM SPRING...

WE are talking about snow in a convergence zone tonight and low temps in the 20-25 degree range the next few nights. Daytime highs late week you say will reach 50.... WOOP-T-DOO... 50 degrees is typical of a ridge in early january... NOT SPRING... YOU ARE BEING STUBBORN

Well it felt like late spring and almost a cold summer day back in late January... How come you didn't say it was spring then?

The grass was as green as it is now at my house as it was back in mid january right after the snow melted after being on the ground for 11 days.

With the extremely warm temps we had two weeks ago, it did trick Vegetation into thinking it was late March, or April. And for a lot of places that continued with fairly warm temps for highs last week, the progress has continued. (like places in Seattle ect) The cool temps this weekend though will slow things a little, but unless we get a major arctic outbreak the Vegetation will continue its springtime growth progress, just to a lesser extent. It will be though very variable as to where the spring growth will be, with all our micro climates we have here in Western WA.

Brennan...

Whatever... I give up on you. Spring is all around you... its a TRANSITION... but spring gets stronger every day. I refuse to debate the completely obvious.

I am arguing with a person who proudly claims he acts like he is in elementary school.

Glad you mentioned that... because thats what it seems like whenever a "Brennan" post shows up here. Like an elementary school kid has intruded.

Grasses here in Western WA stay green even if its 0 degrees. When the grass here is dormant, it isn't quite as green as summer, (not a very noticable difference though) but the big thing is no growth. Other places like Eastern Wa have different species of grass that turn brown when they go dormant. Just a little FYI

I am sure no one cares, but our 18 hole putting course that we have near Proshop/ parking lot area is Bent grass, that grass will auctually turn a dormant brown color when it gets cold, so we have to put down an IRON fertilizer to keep it somewhat green. The Ryegrass Fairways, and POA greens stay green all winter.

Okay this is reminding me too much of work, I don't want to think about grass until I go back to work on Tuesday

Looks like there has really been an inhancment in the shower activity just to my north.

Current temp is 33.7 degrees

I do really enjoy all the different point of views here on this thread, but lets not go to far okay?? Everyone is here because they love the weather.

Just don't want anyone leaving the site from thinking everyone is against them sort of thing, or from the moderaters having enough of it, and taking care of it themselves.

Debating....... Fine
Name calling or sarcasm, ECT.......... NOT Fine

Just my opinion though 8-)

Anyhow looks like I could possibly wake up to a dusting of something........

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SEATTLE WA 930 PM PST SUN FEB 13 2005

.DISCUSSION...THE UPPER SHORTWAVE THAT BROUGHT SOME CONVECTION TO WRN WA DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON HAS MOVED EAST OF THE CASCADES. SNOW CONTINUES TO FALL ALONG THE WEST SLOPES OF THE CASCADES...ESPECIALLY FROM KING COUNTY NORTHWARD...AND THE SNOW LEVEL IS AROUND 1000 FT. PCPN OVER THE LOWLANDS IS LIMITED MAINLY TO THE PUGET SOUND CONVERGENCE ZONE AGAIN THIS EVENING...WHICH EXTENDS FROM THE KITSAP PENINSULA ACROSS NORTH KING COUNTY INTO THE CASCADES NEAR STEVENS PASS. AND SOME OF THE HEAVIER SHOWERS ARE BRINGING WET SNOW OR MIXED SNOW AND RAIN TO NEAR SEA LEVEL. ANOTHER VORT LOBE EMBEDDED IN THE NW FLOW ALOFT IS OVER VANCOUVER ISLAND THIS EVENING...AND IT WILL SWING THROUGH WRN WA LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY MON MORNING. THIS FEATURE WILL AFFECT PRIMARILY THE NORTH PART OF THE FORECAST AREA. IT WILL SUSTAIN THE PSCZ THROUGH MON MORNING...PERHAPS CAUSING IT TO REFORM FURTHER NORTH THAN ITS CURRENT POSITION. AN UPPER RIDGE WILL BUILD ALONG 140W MON AND SHIFT TO 130W BY WED... WITH SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE OVER SRN BC PRODUCING LOW LEVEL OFFSHORE FLOW ACROSS WRN WA. AT THIS TIME IT LOOKS LIKE THE DRY SPELL WILL CONTINUE INTO FRI...BUT CONFIDENCE IN THE LONGER RANGE IS SOMEWHAT LOW AS THE MODELS ARE STILL HAVING DIFFICULTY RESOLVING HOW THINGS WILL EVOLVE. THE CURRENT FORECAST LOOKS GOOD. MCDONNAL &&

Anthony...Last week we did have some warm days, but the night were freaking cold...I just don't understand why you guys don't get that. As for today...38 before sunset. Not very springlike. At least admit we are in a nice cold airmass now...Good grief!

It is interesting to note that the 850mb temps now are as low as they were during the Jan cold spell. The average low for my place stands at 32 degrees for this month. I can only hope that we ever see an average low like that in April!

TT you said i was being immature... I act immature with my friends IF YOU READ IT CORRECTLY... I said I was different when it came to talking about weather... There is nothing obvious about it being spring here.
