Okay...

It was very exciting discussing the winter storm that recently came through Texas and the southern United States. As that storm moves on and things begin to clear ...

At least us up here in Grayson County still have 3 inches or so of snow on the ground in some locations ...haha.. (and I'm not bragging, I wouldn't do that :)

Now....Lets discuss something else :)

Predict a blizzard over Waco and I'll discuss that with you. You got this last one right, so give me something to look forward to.

You know, there haven't been many times as a lifelong Texan that I've seen snow stay on the ground for 4 days. The temperature dipped below freezing at 11 am Sunday and hasn't gone back over to date. Working on 96 hours below freezing if we don't go over in the next 45 minutes here in Frisco.

After the sun yesterday we have some icicles coming off the house that measure at almost 2 feet in some cases. Amazing, another great winter here in Collin County. So here in the part of DFW where we got snow, we're already having an artic blast. Heck with the clouds we may not go over freezing again today, if we do it won't be by much.

This really is some lengthy cold here in the DFW area. I cant remember the last time the cold and snow stayed for several days in a row. Heck, even the foot we all got last year was pretty much gone the next day. Hopfully we get a couple more rounds before it is all said and done and baseball is back.

Has anyone looked at the 12Z GFS at 120 hours? Wow; that's cold & it's rapidly diving south from the Arctic!

37F outside in Houston...what a waste...if it is this cold I would rather see some flakes with these clouds.

It finally hit 33 here in Rockwall. That completes 4 days at 32 or lower. Still some snow on the ground in patches.

I would guess he was referencing the lows. Low to mid 20s for highs = omg.

I'm aware of the OMG, but consider the 12Z GFS again for 120 hours. That looks like a pretty big spill south.

Even the new 18Z NAM Models are advertising the cold air traveling south faster than the 6Z & 12Z runs.

Do you have a graphic for the 12z @ 120?

Have any offices latched on to this yet? FW still says a quick, modified glance... but highs in the 50's mid week.

You have to mouse over the hours. There's quite a difference between hours 114 & 120.

Not sure what GFS run you're looking at but today's 12Z GFS run is showing the high heading too far east-southeast to prevent us from receiving the brunt of that cold air - just a glancing blow. Also, the high its showing isn't as strong or cold as the one that just came through earlier this week.

Now, the European on the other hand is bringing the high pressure down into the central plains with a cut-off low out to the southwest. The GFS and European are flip-flopping like crazy for late next week.

Click on the link below to see how the high pressure moves too far east to effect us that much

It does appear to be pretty far east but the western side of it has air coming from around the Hudson Bay.

The Euro, the Canadian, and UKMET all show strong ridging developing off the Pacific Coast about six days out. This coincides well with the existing teleconnections (PNA, MJO, tropical forcing). I wouldn't pay too much attention to the operational GFS right now. Beyond five days, it's hopelessly lost.
