Come on... its still in the mid to upper 30's and even 40 degrees at Boeing Field.
All time record lows are in the low to mid 20's at Sea-Tac with the exception of 1956 when we had lots of snow on the ground and real arctic air.
W13 - you get a little too dramatic with your radiational cooling. You are on a hill... that works against you in this case.
In that case... I predict 5 degrees here in North Bend. Should warm to about 18 degrees tomorrow with sunshine and then maybe -5 degrees tomorrow night with such a good cold start. Should get to 32 degrees by next week.

Now that is something you don't see everyday...It is actually colder in some Puget Sound locations than it is in much of eastern WA tonight. That is probably because the flow is still weakly onshore. This is very impressive for a MARITIME polar airmass. One of the coldest I have seen! It is incredible that the dew points are in the mid 20s when the pressure gradients have yet to go offshore. This strikes me as a situation where the dew points could go into the single digits or at least around 10, when the flow goes offshore. This sets up the possiblility for some tremendously variable low temps later in the week. Thursday morning could range from around 40 in the foothills to the mid teens in wind sheltered valleys. It has been many years since we have had this scenario in February.
While I am certainly disappointed with some aspects of this winter, I am very intrigued by others. There is no question that the patterns are much different this winter than the past several years. All we can do is hope that this is just part of the journey to our long overdue regime shift.

Please stop with the sarcasm, it is annoying.
So, you think the Kent Valley gets colder than where I live (at 822 feet on Kent's East Hill). Well guess what, your wrong. We are continually 5-10 degrees colder than the valley. Last week when we had a little cold snap, we still got down to 24 F. Tonight should be as cold or colder than last week.
In the morning, we will see who was right and who was wrong.
On an upbeat note, we are down to 27 F as of 8:42 PM.

No... dewpoints will drop to 0 or lower tonight once the flow goes offshore.
Radiational cooling should cause temperatures to fall like we are in Fairbanks Alaska.
I revised my forecast... I now predict -10 tonight in North Bend. With clear skies temperatures should drop about 5 degrees an hour. Do the math.
Tomorrow will be bright and sunny but a little cool with a high around -2. Tomorrow night watch out!! With more clear skies we should get down to about -25 degrees. The high on Wednesday will be about -10.
This radiational cooling continues unabated until Friday and we should be down near -40 by then.
Then southerly flow kicks in and we get up to zero on Saturday but with moisture we should get 10-20 inches of snow.
Now thats sarcasm!!!
Hanging at 31.5 degrees here. Nothing too shocking.

R-Dub...That Enumclaw temperature is really striking. When the east wind is not blowing that can one of the cold spots for sure. At that rate, I would say the upper teens are not out of the question for them tonight. I must admit, even I am surprised by how cold this airmass turned out to be!
I am dying to see what surprises the remainder of this wintewr and spring may hold. I wonder how much longer we will be able to go before we can string two colder than normal months together.

Justin...You are at 822 feet? That must be one of the highest points for the east hill. You are correct. Last week was the absolute perfect situation for our area to have the coldest nights of just about anywhere. Just enough offshore to dry out the air, but not enough to make it windy. This week, I think the wind will screw up our lows for Wednesday and Thursday.

Holy Moly! The GFS has just done another about face on us. Look at this trough poised to drop in at day 5. I am not going to get my hopes up, but this is not that far out. At any rate, uncertainty reigns supreme.

Yep, I am at one of the highest peaks of the East Hill. On my way home from a basketball game at Kent Commons (down in the Kent Valley), the temperature dropped 8 degrees between Fred Myers (at a lower point of the East Hill), and my house. It was quite dramatic to get out of Kent Commons at about 37 F, and get home and walk in 29 F.
I just hope we get some really cold overnight lows tonight and tommorow. It sure would be enlightening to walk to the school bus in some chilly air for once.

By the way, did you guys in Covington get any snow showers this afternoon. I was quite amazed that when I was riding the school bus home from Kentwood high School, snow was coming down at a moderate rate. The temperature was about 36-37 F at this time, and by the time I got home (only a few miles away), it was 41 F and lightly snowing with some ice pellets mixed in. This turned over to all snow for 10-15 minutes and fizzled out. It was pretty exciting to see snow falling from the sky falling again!
