I think its 1993 all over again!!

BTW - dewpoints look like they are coming up. That should help melt the frost in the shadows and keep low temperatures higher until next week when the air dries out again.

Actually, it is not like Spring nor Winter. Spring is not usually this dry, nor do we gets temps in the mid 20's at night during Spring, and temps are usually in the 60 or so range, not upper 40's. The temps now are Winter like temps, but summer like precipitation. This pattern is much more like that of summer, with longer stretches of dry weather. Obviously we are not having summer like temps, but having big ridges of high pressure for weeks and weeks is summer like.

Hry guys. Just took a look over at the CPC site...and the PNA goes way above +4 by March 1st, while NAO goes to -4 or better for that time.

ANOTHER awesome day!! Currently 51F with clear, blue skies!! How long can this continue?!

To clear it up, my school has six, academic periods from 7am to 1:45pm. But there are also zero and seventh period which are usually for weight training, debate and other physical activities. Currently I'm taking weight training zero period...which begins at 6:15am.

Unbelievable weather!! Clearly the best February we've ever had. I don't remember it ever being this sunny in Winter, let alone Summer! Unfortunately, we'll pay a high price for all this beautiful weather in the summer when there's no snow in the mountains and water/electric bills skyrocket.

When will all this end and when will we return to normal? Let's just say, not for awhile. Looking at the longer range forecasts, still no sign of a zonal, westerly flow which would do us some good. By no means am I complaining, but I do feel sorry for the mountain resorts...but hey, at least Stevens Pass reopened today! I almost skipped, but I have mid-winter break all next week and thus could not afford to take a day off this week.

The theme of "strong ridge in the west, trough in the east" will continue AT LEAST through March 1 if not longer. Actually, looking through day 16 there's no real, big system on the horizon and no big trough to cool temperatures. Granted, it's not 80F with sunny skies it's still perfectly sunnny with temperatures around 50F...almost perfect weather if you ask me.

Scratch that. It just hit 60.5 degrees in Covington.

59 degrees at my house.

57 degrees at North Bend Elementary.

56 degrees in Issaquah

54 degrees in Lynnwood

Well a carbon copy of yesterday, still frost in all the shady areas, and the temp/dewpoint are about the same also as Wed.
My low this morning was 25.8 degrees

This can't be right...I just drove home from a friend's house and had to put on the AC. It's February correct? I've never done that before...well, I've only been driving for 18 months but still, I've never done that in February.

Looking at the thermometer outside, it says 62F but it's not always accurate...sometimes when it sits in the direct sun it gives too high numbers...I remember one time in the summer when it said 108F.

Awesome weather!!! Keep it coming!!

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SEATTLE WA 230 PM PST THU FEB 17 2005

.DISCUSSION...ANOTHER COLD CLEAR NIGHT AND ANOTHER SUNNY DAY WITH HIGHS NEAR 50 ON TAP. ONLY WEATHER IN SIGHT IS UPPER LEVEL TROUGH DROPPING INTO EASTERN WASHINGTON WITH ITS TAIL END OVER WESTERN WASHINGTON THIS WEEKEND. GFS SHOWS A PRETTY SHARP TROF BUT NO PRECIPITATION OVER WESTERN WASHINGTON. REGIONAL CONSENSUS IS NO RAIN OR SNOW WITH THIS SYSTEM EXCEPT MAYBE A CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE CASCADES. THAT WOULD BE SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. CLOUDS BUT NO PRECIP IN THE LOWLANDS. OFFSHORE SURFACE FLOW RESUMES SUNDAY AND OFFSHORE UPPER RIDGE SHARPENS UP FOR MORE DRY AND SUNNY WEATHER NEXT WEEK. NOT THAT MUCH DIFFERENT FROM THIS WEEK. WEAK FRONT APPROACHES LATE NEXT FRIDAY BUT THAT IS NOT WORTH PUTTING IN THE FORECAST YET. BURKE &&

I may need to take a drive down to Marysville to warm up!!! Its quite a cold north wind blowing off the lake right now, (my house faces the north)with the front (lakeside)yard even more white then what yesterdays pics showed. And at work all the ponds are so frozen solid that I walked out a little ways out, and it didn't even hint at cracking

AHHHHHHHHHHHH can't get away from the cold

R-Dub,

Man, you must live in a very protected area because no other place in Western Washington is that cold. It's not even that bad in the morning where I live...I can deal with 30F as long as it rebounds to near 60F in the afternoon. I'm very curious to understand how you only reached 43F today...just doesn't seem possible considering all other areas hit AT LEAST 50F...if not alot higher.

I'm leaving for Phoenix this weekend to supposedly escape from the rain/cold weather that is typical of February, but I'm not sure I want to leave anymore. Phoenix is experiencing record rain/cool conditions that are expected to continue for the next two weeks. Man, It'll probably be raining down there, yet will be sunny and mild up here.

In any event, another awesome day! Hopefully this stuff continues.

Anthony, I live in a microclimate. I went down to Marysville to get some dinner at around 4:00PM today, and it was 51 degrees there, as soon as I get off the freeway and start heading back up to my house, the temp starts dropping, by the time I get back to my house, the temp was 41 degrees A 10 degree difference!!! It usually ranges from a 6-10 degree difference. Like I said yesterday, this happens at all times of the yr, can be hot as heck in town in the summer, but get back to my house and there is a cool wind blowing off the lake. If you look at that over head map I gave a link to yesterday of my area you will notice we have several lakes in a small area, (this area is called 7 lakes because of the 7 lakes we have in a small area)the lake I live on being the biggest, I think between being up at 500FT, still a fairly dense forested area, and having all the lakes is a big factor. I wish I could prove to everyone more that my temps are accurate(I use two different thermometers, one a wireless, and one a wired, in addition to my truck thermometer). Did everyone see my pics from yesterday? That hail is still on the ground today  and the frosty areas now look like snow since the frost has building since Monday night. I'll take a pic of myself standing on the frozen pond at work tomarrow :D

Here is the link to the overhead map of my area............
http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com/im ... Y=1665&W=1
Currently 35.2 degrees as of 5:50PM

There are a few spots along the Auburn-Black Dimaond Road that still have thick frost. Amazing considering the temps are in the 50's. Also along 18 just before the Auburn-Black Diamond Road exit there is a swamp area that is covered in ice. It doesn't get sunlight because of a hill blocking it.

TT...That Covington school thermometer is way off. I had 54 - 23 at my place today. That is with multiple thermometers. I have said that three times now. That makes a daily average of 38.5...oohh we had better go for a swim in Lake Meridian!

I am sure that nice cold air mass this weekend will stick in your craw really good. It looks like it will drop down from NW Territories. Not exactly my idea of a spring weather pattern!

A record low in Olympia...how can that be, in this great heat wave of Feb 2005????

TT would just knock it off about me being in denial? I am not in denial of anything... Yes it was in the middle 50's in most places today... 41 at my house... You are misunderstanding me or something because what you are saying is just straight up confusing me... And why don't you let SnowWizzard post the temps for Covington? SnowWizzard I guarentee has a better weather set up then the ELEMENTARY SCHOOL... You are just looking for that 60* temp aren't you? I Just talked to snow wizzard and he said his high today was 54*... THAT IS 6* away from 60 so your crap reading of the school is way off, keep your search for 60 continuing...

Glad to hear from you Brian.. You should know what I am talking about as well... Here along the shady side of the lake is nothing like bellingham. It is cold, shaded and frosty all day long... The ponds are frozen and are getting thicker each night... I LOVED what you said about the weather patterns and that overall post it was prefect. I think you need to share your thoughts with TT...

So TT tell me what you think I am in denial about because i see nothing that I am in denial about...

It's warm in most places not all... (UPPER 50's AT BEST) (mostly lower to mid 50's) typical of a strong western ridge in mid february...

In mine and R-Dub's places we are in a microclimate... even though it's not just my house here that's in winter... Pretty much all of sudden valley and along this 14 mile stretch of the lake is feeling the cold weather. So it's not just my house TT...

Brennan... whatever. You are quite annoying. No balance... no objectivity. Who cares though. You are 16.

Snow_Wizzard... any more thoughts on 1993. Seems like a carbon copy. I hope so because it got pretty exciting after March 1st that year.

This is my favorite Seattle weather. I absolutely love this. It looks like it will continue for the next 10 days or so... yeah that will stick in my craw!!

I can handle this warm sunshine and clear skies. Our for lunch today in Kirkland and there were lots of people walking and rollerblading in shorts and short-sleeved shirts. Sure beats "winter" with its cold, dreary rain.

Anthony,

Back when I going to RHS(Redmond High School), there was only 6 periods. Each an hour long. The school day went from 7:30am to 2:01pm. Then when we had half days, think there was only like 4 maybe 5 periods...but squeezed into half hour times.

-- Andy | PS....yet another sunny and wonderful day! Our high today was 52 with a low of 27. At 6:51pm, we have a temp of 40 with humidity 66%, DP 30, and baro 29.88 and steady.

TT, I didn't look at the weather records at work for March 1993, and I can't remember that far back (must be getting old  ) What happened in March 1993??
