From Fort Worth this morning...

MEDIUM TO EXTENDED RANGE GUIDANCE STILL POINTS TO A LONG WAVE TROUGH DEVELOPING ACROSS NORTH AMERICA AT THE END OF NEXT WEEK...POSSIBLY OPENING THE NATION UP TO A COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS. IT LOOKS LIKE THE FRONT WOULD PUSH THOUGH SOMETIME AT THE END OF THE WORK WEEK...BRING WELL-BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION NEXT WEEKEND.

We had a few flakes of snow falling here in Weatherford at 6:20 (but not sticking due to temp in mid-30s), but precip has stopped now.

You and your staff have done a fine job so far this winter providing snow and sleet to the masses. That Grey Goose is really motivating them. Great job.

Here in Pflugerville we have just a mist of rain, slept thru most of the night so if we ever had sleet I did not know.

Looking at radar the any winter precip seems to be turning to rain just as it reaches Austin, however accurate the radar may be that is.

Any areas you see on that radar which have heavier returns (i.e. yellow shade), you can bet there is a sleet/rain mix underneath it.

Yeah it all looks very light for the Pflugerville area right now.

By the way 6z GFS is the first run thus far to generate a 1053 high in Montana to match 5h pattern. Lets see if the coming runs go bigger

BTW, I'm seeing numerous reports of snow in the last hour or two out in Liberty Hill, Burnet, and Fredericksburg, per local media and Twitter.

Correct. Local news has been showing quite a few pictures. Looks like Burnet actually got quite a hit. Still gives me a bit of hope, since it's only like 35 miles from Austin, but our window is closing.

Agreed. Based on what I'm seeing on radar, our "window" is the next 2-3 hours and then it'll be east of us.

Edit update: And FWIW, heavy sleet now (7:40 am) falling at the PWC. Nutjob lead met from PWC walked outside in his PJs to confirm ground truth!

Looking like it may close even quicker than that. I'd give it about an hour before it starts leaving our area from SW-NE.
