Ideally if we can trend the s/w into AZ/NM we'd be in business

Certainly farther south and a bit faster than 00z. Taken together, 00z, 06z and 12z appear to be a positive trend with the GFS.

The snow totals on the GFS east of here. I think Atlanta and North Carolina would cease to exist.

I'm mentally preparing myself right now for what is going to happen later this week (for Austin, at least) ...

@BigJoeBastardi: Then again the old rule in the south. Thunder in the winter snow within a week may be interesting test case some places.

Remember that chart can not differentiate between snow/sleet/freezing rain. Use those snow clown maps with great caution.

Interested in what the Euro says. 4-5 days is its wheelhouse and it has the best scores in this range of the globals

lol I was thinking of going to Denver in February as a last ditch attempt at winter... I'm hoping it'll snow in DFW before that.

Well said in comments above but I know it's just the 12z, however if that run comes anywhere near verifying we could see a MAJOR winter storm just north of the DFW Metroplex..

I wouldn't give this as much weight but the 12z euro ens package plus CMC yet again all weighted together makes me pause.. could be a wild week I'll post more thoughts later :)

You definitely appear like your area will be in the "wheelhouse" with whatever does happen. Thanks for sharing your insights.

If it will make feel any better, I will go ahead and issue a freezing drizzle advisory for Friday.

Thanks aggiecutter. Yeah, we might as well get that over with now.

wxman57 ... be nice! It's a new year and you've been hogging the thermostat. Time to share with your cold-weather loving friends.

Euro appears to be further south at 96 hours... this could be interesting

Although it's also much weaker

Looks to keep the snow in Oklahoma(although it's not much of it)
