12z Euro is finally moving the system that I have been following it to range. It has had pretty good ensemble support and it has generated some decent GFS lols. There is a lot of energy coming out of the Pacific, so obviously, we will see many different versions of this in the coming week.

12z Euro Ensemble doesn't look very exciting over the next 10 days...

Steve McCauley not onboard with any frozen precip any time soon.

But a cold front rolls through during the predawn hours of Friday, so the official high temperature on Friday will be at midnight, and then we just fall through the 40s during the afternoon with a widespread cold rain. The rain will end before it gets cold enough to snow.

There remains no indication of any frozen precipitation for the next several days. It just turns colder.

Some of you have asked if this is a McFarland Signature coming up. Well, first of all, those who follow this page know that if it were, I would have been yammering about it for days. ;-)

This upcoming cold snap is not even close to a MacFarland. That would cause temperatures to fall into the single digits and teens, and there is nothing in the data to suggest it. I haven't even been worried about my palm trees with this coming colder weather.

12z Euro control run has a winter storm to start 2018. Snow down to IH-10.

The pattern is still there, it's just confidence remains low due to all of that cold air poised to move south.

Looks like 18z NAM is a little colder with temps, but it's also faster with the storm.

It's gonna be close...WE JUST NEED AN INCH! I still think it's possible.

I'm sure you would love a map like that in August with the entire state in the 100's and large pockets pushing 110.

Me? No, I hate hot weather. Give me mid 30s and rain/sleet any day over a hot July day.

Hey bub, the natives are getting restless around here. Use some of that snow juju you used here in Austin a few weeks back and help out our friends in North Texas. Besides ... we'll all be dying under your excessive heat come Summer 2018 so it's the least you can do.

I'm working on it, Portastorm. However, no matter how I manipulate the model guidance, the snow isn't materializing. If even 5% of the model runs verify, though, north Texas should be getting a snow storm in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, nothing like highs near 80 to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. (sarcasm)
