Re: Texas Winter 2022-2023
My phone Wunderground app gets all pixelated with weird colors on temps.
It used to be one of the best sites around.
Merry Christmas Eve!
At least it feels chilly.

Parts of fhe east like Tennessee and North Carolina are doing rolling blackouts to provide grid stability due to demand from cold. Sure brings back some harsh memories. Let us hope the best for them.

The Titans game in Nashville has been pushed back 1 hour as a result.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!
News from the ensembles today, 2ish weeks of non-winter weather. But then they raise heights over NW North America and Alaska second week of January. Might be rushing it some but that is -EPO again once the Alaskan trough retrogrades away from the Aleutians! Winter will make another comeback. Cheers!

Yup signs were there for mid Jan beyond. I'll take the two-week thaw though right about now. Lol

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.
Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.
Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information
Never say Never with weather! Because ANYTHING is possible!

Re: Texas Winter 2022-2023
Update from Steve McCauley....
Nice to see we made it above freezing across all of north Texas today with highs generally in the mid to upper 30s and a couple of low 40s. The warming trend will continue with temps in the 40s for Christmas Day, then the 50s, then the 60s, then the 70s as we put this brief but bitter cold snap behind us.
Showers and thunderstorms will make a comeback to at least the eastern half of north Texas for next Thursday night as muggy air returns on southerly breezes along with above normal temperatures. In fact, there is no sign of another blast of bitterly cold air and there remains no indication of significant wintry precipitation for the foreseeable future...very typical for a La Niña winter.
Have a safe and enjoyable Christmas !

But there will be some troughing developing over us so we could be looking at a wetter pattern taking shape.

That’s one huge yawn.
La Niñas are known for extremes and surprises. They aren’t always a snooze fest.
