From am ewx fd: LONG RANGE MODELS CONTINUE TO SHOW A COLD ARCTIC OUTBREAK EARLY NEXT WEEK. HAVE TRENDED TEMPERATURES DOWN CONSIDERABLY LATE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY CLOSER TO ECMWF GUIDANCE. DOES NOT APPEAR THERE WILL BE MUCH CHANCE OF ANY POST FRONTAL PCPN...SO HAVE LEFT FORECAST DRY WITH SILENT 10S AHEAD OF THE FRONT AS MOISTURE WILL BE VERY SHALLOW.

That's sarcasm right, lol? Nobody south of the mason Dixon that doesn't live in the smokey mountains has chains. Heck, nobody in Denver even owns chains.

LOL! I was going to add if you knew what chains were :)

I'm getting thundersnow near the airport! How crazy!!! Starting to coat the cars, grass, roofs. Woke up to the sound/lightning and thought it was raining at first but it wasn't...

It's funny, I woke up and checked the radar on the iPhone and saw the returns for snow moving over the metroplex, but I thought "that's nice" and stayed in bed. About 5 minutes later, I saw a flash of lightning followed by a rumble of thunder, and I was out of bed like a 5-year old on Christmas morning.

Absolutely stunned to wake up to Thundersleet this morning!! In all these years following winter weather religiously, this is towards the top of the list of being completely caught off guard. Most models didn't pick up on this event and still haven't even in real time....incredible!! Now, I have been distracted over the past couple of days so I haven't been following the NWS forecast discussion....were they forecasting this ???

It's falling pretty good here in McKinney. I haven't been out in it, but my husband said it was a snow sleet mixture. Since I missed the Christmas snow, I'm excited to see something white falling. Looks beautiful!
