Not orangeblood but...the next wholesale favorable 500mb pattern is towards the last days of January and early Feb. MJO movement through 5-6-7 is mild until the latter part where an Alaskan Western NA ridge connect. This will be favorable for fluky deep south/gulf coast wintry weather.
Anomalous cold should reappear in S-Central Canada and northern Us by then.
I’m really looking forward to February.

It's going to be difficult to sink to single digits if the wind continues the way it's howling right now. Maybe it will die down later tonight for maximum radiational cooling.

Any chance the developing clouds south of midland could produce snow? Looks like something is beginning to pop along the midland to dfw line?

Could be the secondary push of cold air coming in. There was a second front. It's what came through here overnight and brought our snow today.

It does look like a boundary of convection showing up on the satellite

Can someone with a better nose than mine sniff out some cold + wet weather over the next two weeks? I just don’t see it. Perhaps because it’s not there?

EWX says long range beyond 7 is looking above average temps and wetter. We need wetter, much wetter.

Tyler beat the old record of 15 by 1 degree. Held at 14 for last few hours. Wind around 15 didn't allow things to bottom out. One last chance for 0s tonight.

Just one more really cold day to get through today before more manageable temps return by tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait!
Wet pattern still looks likely for much of TX Sunday into next week. Even more excited for that!
