37 degrees according to my phone so the temp has been dropping steadily. Maybe a wet snowfalke? I will take anything at this point.

Aloft is too warm for snow or sleet. If surface temps fall below 32 then we would most likely see freezing rain but that's an outside shot. Once it cools enough as the ULL passes by we will be dry slotted.
But at least it's cold. Yesterday was disgusting.

Temps falling faster than planned. hmm..
In other news, December is currently +6F above normal. Given next week looks only slightly below normal, we'll log another very warm month compared to average. the beat goes on...

Only in Texas can we have 77 on the first day of Winter and highs in the 30s the following day.
At least it will be fireplace weather through Christmas Day.

Anyone know if what is showing up on radar around Lubbock is reaching the ground or accumulating? Looks much more impressive on radar right now out there than models had shown.

Gainesville reporting light snow and 34. My radar app is depicting snow just north of Denton to Marietta.

I believe it is. Hopefully it'll swing by and keep chugging east!

Can someone verify the Gainesville snow? 850 temps are modeled to be around 50 degrees there right now which would in theory melt any snow.

I don't think we have any posters that way to verify on the ground. Soundings to me have a very stout warm nose at 850 so I don't see how it could be snow.
Yukon Cornelius earlier did report flurries even though there was a warm nose in far NW Texas, not to the magnitude south and east of there though. Maybe localized intense cooling from the heavy precip?

Agreed a 35 degree warm nose I could see being overcome by heavy precip but not 50+ degrees.

Was going to say that the radar precip depiction shows snow from Gainesville to points west. Was wondering if this was verifying or not!
I'm NW of Bowie, in Clay County and have been receiving on and off light freezing rain since the light flurries ended. There are small icicles hanging from the fences and tree branches.

The current radar sure does look different than what the NAM had been (still is) showing. i'm not sure if that'll mean much in the long run, but I do find it interesting.

HRRR captures it pretty well. A burst of snow later this evening from Wichita Falls, to S-Central Oklahoma and Northeastern Oklahoma. The rich get richer

I guess we still have all of January and February left! #brightside
We'll see. La Nina's tend to get warmer as the winter goes on. Some Ninas have a burst of short, intense cold in between. Even the very cold ones, like 1983, 1989, and 2000 got warmer compared to December. We were doing fine last winter until mid January then it torched.
