Not one pellet over here. Pretty big bust for the models, especially NAM and gfs, that kept showing most of se la getting some winter precip. But didn't really expect much either, seen it all before only to fail miserably. Oh well I'm sure the gfs will bury us in another 14 day fantasy storm before long

Heavy sleet here in Vermilion Parish earlier tonight, then it turned into lots of flurries - nothing sticking.

Already down to 17 here before midnight with clear skies and a 10 dp. Wind is 10mph though but it of the N so while not ideal radiationally it will continue cold air advection and promote lowering dps. Record low in Tyler is the 15 for the 6th which won't be missed by much and 13 for the 7th. Not sure Tyler can make 13 but a close call is possible. So much for the low 20s forecast from earlier today.

Sitting at 23f at my house in the Spring Branch area of Houston(near nw). Winds have settled somewhat and skies have cleared so I am not going to be surprised to wake up to 20f or a little below. Last prediction I saw for my area was 26f. Going to be very interesting to see if we hit the teens Sunday am!! It has been a LONG TIME since we have had temps this low in the city proper. Had a couple of sleet showers this morning as the temps started lowering, but nothing stuck. :cold: :cold: :double: :double: :froze:

27F here now in SL with the winds blowing outside still. Dewpoint is still falling at 16. If things calm down a bit, might hit 20-21.

If the 0z Euro were a bit cooler I'd be seeing one of the worst ice storms in my life in Ohio. As it stands the run gives me 1.4 inches of what would be either freezing rain or sleet and then then there is another .94 of an inch where the surface temps are fairly closed to zero Celsius but slightly above. YIKES

Austin College Weather Station west of town shows a temperature of 5 degrees at the moment. Not sure what the overnight low was at that station.

Looks like it made it down to 9 degrees this morning for the official low at North Texas Regional Airport.

Wow, this is something you don't see every day, the whole state of Texas is below freezing, even Brownsville is down to 31 degrees this morning. I am sure not going to complain about my 37 for a low tomorrow morning compared to the temps you guys are having.

14F was the official low so no single digits at DFW but coldest since 2011. Yesterday's predawn high of 27F was officially a daily low-max record. And wow is the US cold! Only southern/central Florida spared.

Image

Euro has a big southern plains storm next weekend with DFW heavy rain in the 30s. Just west crippling ice storm and Snow in Oklahoma. GFS is a little warmer and raining. More model watching this week as that will be a big cutoff ULL! Before that, a nice little warm up :D

23F at my house, made it here in 2013, but ny colder than that would be as cold as i can remember here in 20 years. GFS won that battle.

19F at Sugar Land airport.

1039MB pressure reading as well. Love it!

In a sense, this -EPO block and Alaskan ridge panned out very similar to December 2013, except the January version of cold. Froze down to the lower Rio Grande and across the River in Mexico too. McFarland would be writing about this in his paper :D
