Lol in my Ohio forum the creator of the current storm thread had changed the title from potential winter storm to significant winter storm and then the NAM run happened and I was like maybe we should change it back. He actually changed it back xD kind of our own Winter cancel.

I think we all know who to blame for the lack of cold air in our source region...

Yep, looking back at 12z and comparing to 00z, GFS is the most progressive, then the FV3 and then the Euro with the 00z 3k NAM a bit deeper and slower than the 12z Euro.

In theory, we should be getting into the 3k NAMs wheel house. This would match up pretty good with our past events, a last second shocker! The 3k NAM has it snowing pretty good across the Northern Burbs by Saturday morning and everyone had given up hope by bedtime on Thursday.

That gets me in the game. Now I’m interested again. Of course when I wake up in the morning it can all change again. The drama continues!

This thread would ceast to exist. Hard truth, but most winters are going to be warm these days. We look for the maybes.

No one is to blame, mother nature does what she does regardless of forecasts or models.

Well you can't blame peeps for being disappointed.. hard to get winter here with a lack of cold air in western Canada. You must admit it has been a problem the past 3-4 years in general. No one is to blame of course. Of Course we always hope.

It's been all or nothing the past 3 years. Too much cold, too little cold, too dry, or too wet. To me that sounds like a whole lot of excuses because it covers just about everything.

Which shows it has to line up right and rare.

We used to get at least a good sleet or ice storm every year, we could count on it.

This NAM snow will be gone by the next run but back by mid day and I’ll be on the edge of my seat the whole time...weather is always captivating and vacillating.

0z GFS is showing snow across central Texas with our next system for the middle part of next week. More digging into Mexico = higher snow chances with that one.

Yep, similar to the 12z run, which wasnt bad either. Just when a lot of folks start to give up on winter, the 0z guidance draws them back in.

Patience folks...

I wish that was the case, but the DFW record books don’t agree.

FWIW, I’ve lived near Lake Texoma since 1979 and unfortunately, even along the Red River, winter weather isn’t a yearly occurrence.

Looks like the last multi-year stretch where we had little to snow was... *checks notes* 1997-2000 right after the last Super Nino :x
